Everything was going well until that first text.
We were former colleagues on friendly terms. Yes, we had one night that always felt like a missed opportunity, but hey, I get it! You love your wife and the family and life you’ve built together. I was never so serious that I would have done anything to interfere.
But you texted out of the blue telling me you love me, telling me you wanted to see if there was anything between us, if it could work. You should’ve just shut the fuck up and left me alone. I was stupid enough to believe your lies, and stupid enough to get past your mean and hurtful comments.
You even told me it wasn’t me, it was the guys I picked. They were too intimidated by me, they didn’t know how to deal with someone as smart, as driven, as blah blah blah. And I guess you were right because you sure are one of them.
