SOU Skewed Morals | is it worth attending?

Honestly, I applied to go to SOU but after doing research and talking with staff and students I have known for a while. I am not so sure. They seem to act very caring and supportive. However, they messed up their own finances letting departments overspend consistently and still are even with a 1k budget put in place. They’re using loopholes to still get around the budget. Instead of strengthening these budgets or creating a plan for everyone to survive- on top of all this, they’re trying to get the union to sign a 0% increase in pay for FOUR YEARS. That’s insane, especially with cost of living rising, food costs, gas… The morals are insanely skewed. Why are the making the people at the bottom, who ultimately keep the school running, barely scraping by? Student workers are also affected by this and aren’t getting pay increases- how are they supposed to eat food, pay rent, and pay tuition bills? Along with that there’s several student workers who aren’t held accountable for never showing up to work and lying about why. Ultimately taking jobs from students who need the job on campus. It’s an odd system they have in place. It’s a failing system. I think I’m going to go to another college instead. It sounds like a lot of others I know are as well. I don’t think they’re going to come out of this because, they aren’t actually listening to anyone. Maybe that’s just me? What do you all think?

Completely forgot to add; I’m a Business major with an Art minor.

Pet sitter neglected Rats

I know this may be silly but I’m seeking some advice. I don’t know what to do. I’m a first time rat parent. My partner has had rats their whole life and has never experienced this. We just lost one of our old boys 2 weeks ago (old age, he was 3 1/2 years). We have 4 others. One of our boys has a tumor, it’s been treated and removed before. We were told it would keep coming back unless we get surgery but even then it’s not 100%. Rats can also die easily in surgery. It’s been tricky. We decided to do the surgery after our trip (planned almost 6 months in advance) and getting our cremains from our last rat. In the mean time we were instructed to care for his wounds and have an appointment.
For more context, the pet sitter is our ex roommate (process of moving out), someone who’s lived closely to these babies longer than I have. Who knows the care macchiato (the neglected rat) needs. Who knows the diet. Who knows what to do. He also has been known to be violent (throwing, breaking things, yelling, argumentative) but, never towards the pets. He’s always been loving and gentle. It’s never been an issue. We also had another pet sitter lined up! So he didn’t have to watch them but he insisted that he should. Which is a big reason why it upsets me.

Now here’s what happened:

We had a trip for 4 days, Friday-Monday, we left Thursday morning and were back Monday. We had another pet sitter who we were going to pay to take care of them. He (pet sitter/ex roommate) stepped up to watch them. We were nervous, but said it was okay. We still had the other sitter go by but she was sent away and told not to come back. We get home after hearing nothing besides that one isn’t really eating (cage mate of the rat who passed whose being introduced to our other babies though it’s taken time especially after his brother passed it’s been hard on him.) We instructed him to add more oats to his diet since those are his favorite and to give treats since it usually helps him perk up. Talk about food motivated… it helped, he’s back to normal. HOWEVER, he never once told us about our other baby whose grown a mass 3x its size since the first time it happened. It was about a dime when we found it the first time and caught it. Now it is 2 maybe 3 quarters big, black, and looks just absolutely disgusting. This doesn’t happen between the time he left (around 10am) on Monday to when we got home around 3pm. We are devastated, worried, scared, and don’t know what to do- the vet may not even treat it as it may be too late now to do anything. We also only have one exotic vet near us (within an hour).

We are obviously making an appointment for him and going to take care of our baby. However is there anything we can do about the neglect? What if we lose our baby? What if it’s too late? Just because, he didn’t check or didn’t tell us.
