Was there a significant synastry match between you and your partner/spouse?

People who are married or in long-term relationships. Did you notice any strong synastry connections between your charts?

For example:

- Guy’s Venus sign or nakshatra matching the girl’s Lagnesh

- One person’s Moon overlapping the other person’s Jupiter

- One person’s Venus overlapping the other person’s Mars

- One person’s Moon matching the other person’s Venus

- One person’s Saturn overlapping the other person’s Rahu

- Darakaraka connections

- UL or A7 connections

- 7th lord of one person connecting with important planets or points in the other person’s chart

- Same nakshatra, or one person’s important planet falling in the other person’s nakshatra

If you have a strong synastry match with your spouse or partner, what was it, and how did the relationship actually turn out? Please share the placements and whether it's a happy relationship, difficult relationship, or something in between.

When the Bhagyesh Is Also the Badhakesh: What Happens for Fixed Ascendants?

For fixed signs, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius, the 9th house is traditionally considered the Badhaka sthana. So the 9th lord becomes the Badhakesh. This means the Bhagyesh and Badhakesh are the same planet for all four fixed Ascendants.

Taurus: Saturn rules the 9th and 10th, so Saturn is Bhagyesh, Karmesh, Yogakaraka and Badhakesh

Leo: Mars rules the 9th and 4th, so Mars is Bhagyesh, Yogakaraka and Badhakesh

Scorpio: Moon rules the 9th, so Moon is Bhagyesh and Badhakesh

Aquarius: Venus rules the 9th and 4th, so Venus is Bhagyesh, Yogakaraka and Badhakesh

This creates a very interesting question.

If Badhakesh is automatically a source of obstruction, then how should we interpret a 9th lord that is also a strong functional benefic or Yogakaraka?

For Taurus, Saturn is one of the most important benefics because it rules the 9th and 10th. For Leo, Mars is a Yogakaraka through the 4th and 9th. For Aquarius, Venus is also a Yogakaraka through the 4th and 9th.

So would it really make sense to say that these planets become malefic just because they are Badhakesh? Or is the better interpretation that the 9th house matters themselves can come with obstacles, delays, reversals or unexpected detours?

For example, maybe Badhaka does not necessarily mean denial. It could mean that the result comes after a blockage, or that fortune develops through difficult circumstances.

For example - Education after an interruption or Career success after repeated delays. Or a major teacher entering life after a disappointing guru experience. Foreign travel after obstacles. Basically success arriving later than expected.

A change in life direction that ultimately turns out to be beneficial

So how do experienced astrologers actually judge this in practice? Do you treat the 9th lord as Badhakesh first, or do you give more weight to its status as Bhagyesh and Yogakaraka?

Also, I think the condition of the planet completely changes the result. For example, a strong 9th lord in own sign or exaltation show slight obstruction before blessing while an afflicted 9th lord could show more serious problems

Divorce indicators in Vedic astrology

I have been studying a number of charts of people who went through divorce, some known to me personally and some from public discussions on Reddit and other astrology communities.

**This is a research exercise, not a claim that any placement causes divorce.**

I have also tried to compare my observations with ideas found in the classics. I just wanted to put these observations together and see what actually repeats. I am leaving out nakshatras and D9 details because I don't want to make the charts too specific or identifiable.

/1. Woman 1

Leo ascendant. 7th lord Saturn is in the 6th house in Capricorn. This is interesting because Saturn is strong by sign, but the 7th lord is still in the 6th, a house connected with conflict, disputes, competition and litigation. The planet itself is not weak. So perhaps the better question is whether the 7th lord is capable of handling 6th-house themes, rather than simply counting this placement as a divorce yoga.

  1. Man 1

Virgo ascendant. Moon, Saturn and Ketu are in the 7th house in Pisces. 7th lord Jupiter is in the 4th house in Sagittarius, retrograde.

  1. Man 2

Sagittarius ascendant. Ketu is in the 7th house. 7th lord Mercury is in the 9th house in Leo with Sun and Jupiter, retrograde. Retrograde Venus is in the 8th. Here we have Ketu directly in the 7th, along with Venus connected with the 8th.

  1. Man 3

Gemini ascendant. 7th lord Jupiter is in the 11th house in Aries with Saturn. Venus is with Rahu in the 2nd house in Cancer. This one is especially interesting because the 7th lord is in the 11th. The 11th is normally treated as a house of gains, fulfilment and social networks. Maybe the 11th can also show completion of desires, changing social circles, or a relationship becoming more transactional. I would not call the 7th lord in the 11th a divorce combination by itself, but it deserves more research.

  1. Woman 2

Leo ascendant. Saturn, Sun, Mars and Venus are in the 7th house in Aquarius. Jupiter and Moon are in the 3rd house in Libra. Several relationship significators and malefic influences are concentrated in the 7th.

  1. Man 4

Taurus ascendant. Jupiter is in the 7th house in Scorpio. 7th lord Mars is debilitated in the 3rd house in Cancer. Venus and Mercury are in the 9th house in Capricorn.

  1. Woman 3

Libra ascendant. 7th lord Mars is in Cancer in the 10th house with Mercury and Jupiter. Mars is debilitated. The 7th lord is not in the 6th, 8th or 12th, but it is debilitated and connected with the 10th house.

  1. Man 5

Sagittarius ascendant. Ketu is in the 7th house in Gemini. Mars, Mercury, Rahu and Venus are in the 1st house. This creates a very strong 1st/7th axis.

  1. Woman 4

Aquarius ascendant. Moon is in the 7th house in Leo. 7th lord Sun is with Mercury in the 6th house in Cancer.

  1. Man 6

Aries ascendant. Jupiter is in the 7th house in Libra. Venus is in the 12th house in Pisces.

  1. Man 7

Taurus ascendant. Moon is in the 7th house in Scorpio. 7th lord Mars is in the 10th house in Aquarius. Venus and Mercury are in Pisces in the 11th house. The Moon is debilitated in the 7th and the 7th lord goes to the 10th.

  1. Man 8

Scorpio ascendant. Jupiter and Ketu are in the 1st house. Rahu is in the 7th house in Taurus. 7th lord Venus is with Mars in the 10th house in Leo. This has one of the clearest Rahu/7th and 1st/7th axis patterns.

  1. Man 9

Aries ascendant. 7th lord Venus is with Mercury and Rahu in Aquarius.

  1. Man 10

Libra ascendant. Venus, Jupiter, Rahu and Mercury are in Libra. Ketu is in the 7th house in Aries. Mars is in Cancer in the 10th house. Again, we have Ketu in the 7th, but the ascendant is also very heavily occupied.

  1. Man 11

Pisces ascendant. Venus and Mercury are in the 11th house in Capricorn. This one is particularly interesting because there is no obvious classical divorce placement from the information available.

**What seems to repeat?**

  1. Affliction of the 7th house - This is probably the most obvious pattern. Saturn, Mars, Sun, Rahu or Ketu repeatedly appear in or strongly influence the 7th house. But this is not surprising. The 7th house is the main house of partnership, so if marriage is difficult, we should expect the 7th house to show some disturbance. The important question is whether the affliction is strong enough and whether it is repeated elsewhere in the chart.

  2. Ketu in the 7th appears repeatedly - There are several examples of Ketu in the 7th in this sample. But there are also people with Ketu in the 7th who are happily married. So I would interpret Ketu in the 7th as something that deserves investigation rather than as a divorce combination by itself. Possible themes could include: detachment, unusual expectations, non-conventional partnerships, periods of emotional distance, difficulty feeling satisfied with ordinary relationship roles

  3. 7th lord in the 6th - This occurs in more than one chart here. The 6th has associations with conflict, disputes, enemies, debts and litigation. But I would not translate conflict directly into legal divorce. A couple can fight and stay married. A couple can also have a relatively peaceful separation without major conflict. A 6th-house connection can manifest through practical responsibilities, health, work, legal matters or disagreements rather than divorce itself.

  4. The 11th house is surprisingly interesting - The 7th lord in the 11th showed up more than once in my sample. Traditionally, the 11th is a house of gains, fulfilment and desires. So why might it appear in divorce charts? One possible interpretation is that relationships can become connected to the fulfilment of a particular goal. Once that goal is fulfilled, the relationship may change. Another possibility is simply sampling bias. Maybe 7th lord in the 11th is common among married people in general, and I am noticing it because I selected divorced charts. This would need a control group of married people to test.

  5. Jupiter in the 7th - Jupiter in the 7th, especially in men's charts, also caught my attention. There is the traditional idea of karako bhava nashto, while Jupiter also expands whatever it touches. So perhaps Jupiter in the 7th could sometimes indicate an expanded or repeated experience of relationships, including multiple partnerships. Again, I would not treat this as a divorce combination by itself. It would be interesting to compare this with a control group of people who have Jupiter in the 7th and remain happily married.

Overall, I think the biggest takeaway from this small sample is that no single placement seems sufficient.

The more useful question may be whether the same relationship theme repeats through the 7th house, 7th lord, Venus, relevant houses such as the 6th/8th/12th, and the overall condition of the chart.

The biggest limitation here is also obvious: this is a selected sample of divorced people. So some of these placements may be very common among married people as well. A proper comparison with a control group would probably be much more useful than simply collecting more divorce charts.

Has any astrologer ever looked at someone’s chart and told you, “Absolutely do not marry this person”?

Or has this happened to someone you know?

What did the astrologer see in the charts, and what happened in the end?

Question about divorce indicators in Vedic astrology

I have a question about divorce indicators in a Vedic astrology chart.

If a chart has multiple combinations that are considered negative for marriage, such as:

- 7th lord placed in the 6th or 8th house

- Rahu or Ketu in the 7th house

- Venus being severely afflicted, such as debilitated, combust, aspected by malefics

Would having these combinations definitely mean the person will get divorced? Or do these combinations only show problems, conflicts, separation, or dissatisfaction in relationships, without necessarily resulting in legal divorce?

I also have another question. Suppose someone has a long-term relationship that ends or an engagement breaks before marriage. Would that be considered a manifestation of the same "divorce indicators" in the chart?

If a broken long-term relationship or engagement can manifest these combinations, does that mean the next relationship or marriage could be more stable? Or would the same indicators continue to affect every future relationship?
