Joist Issue
Rdcently tried to mount my pole in our new gym, however we're having issues locating the joists as the hollow/solid sounds when knocking are coming back quite random and all over the place. We had to partially remove two ceilings last year and discovered that the are lathe and plaster so no metal to find with a stud finder, and we believe the reason why so many random parts are sounding solid is because those other ceilings had all sorts of random house bits stuck between the joists. Joists are also not equally spaced (the house is a nightmare build) so we can't work it out that way either. It's currently looking like our only option is to either drill through the (newly painted) ceiling to find them or pull the carpet and boards up in the above room and work it out from there. Are there any ways of mounting a pole that doesn't require locating a joist, or are we going to have to try the other methods I've mentioned?
