Woodsmith Magazine
I go to estate sales quite a bit, mostly to look for tools I can use in my shop. I have noticed that estate sales go one of two ways either the tools are ridiculously overpriced or deals so good you wonder what is wrong with them, mostly the former. On this occasion I found one that the prices were surprisingly fair but the guy had some really nice tools and I still couldn't afford the sweet cabinet table saw he had, but I am guessing I will never get one of those! In any case I overheard a guy buying one of the cabinets asking what to do with the boxes of magazines inside. I wandered over to see what he was talking about and saw that there were banker boxes full of Woodsmith Magazine Issues #1-190. The price tags on them were $20 per box for a total of $80, since it was the last day of the sale (Pro Life Tip: If you go the last day of the sales they are usually 50% off everything) I offered the sales guy $10 for the lot and he just asked if I wanted help loading them in my car. So now I am the proud owner of a majority of the issues of the magazine. I knew I could eventually look through all of them but since I just wanted them for the projects I wondered if there was an index of them online and sure enough there is an index of all the magazines on their website, all 284 issues so far. Not something that is interesting to everyone but I really like having a cabinet full woodworking magazines and the books I have on the subject in my shop.
