Crusading in Cathay

Hearing dire tales of a distant land where the peasants were ruled by Dragons instead of their social betters, a foolhearty Bretonnian Duke called an errantry crusade and led his assembled forces to the East. Once there he wisely ignored the patient explanations of the local leaders that they were not, in fact, being repressed by the Dragon until eventually they could take no more disrespect and gathered their forces to fight.

The battle became a grinding stalemate, although the duke did manage to slay the vicious beast herself and thus secure his spot in the rolls of legend (and definitely not make Chaos' life easier in future). Despite this eventually both sides had to withdraw as the day drew to a close, with the battle ending in a draw (a marginal Bretonnian victory on points but the FLGS was closing so we finished early and the next round could have swung it back to Cathay).

Away from the glorious charges of the knights special mention has to go to the MaA who scattered the gunners infront of them and then engaged in a drawn out smelly brawl with the local peasants as both sides fought over whether rice or wheat was the superior crop to subsist on.

Fighting Cathay?

Has anyone got tips for fighting Cathay? I haven't faced them yet but have a game on Saturday. Not sure what my opponent has exactly but we're doing 2000 points.

I have gone with an errantry crusade list with 2x 6 man units of KE to pay the tax, a 9 man block of KOTR, two 10 man peasant bowmen, a 20 man KOTRF with a Damsel in it and then a Duke on Hippogriff and Paladin on Pegasus.

My general plan is to fly the characters to engage any guns etc on the backline while the knights try to break any infantry blocks in conjunction with the Knights in foot.

Oh I also have 18 MAA just to use up some points

Temu Tower

Picked up a cheap 3d print tower from Temu, it's a little small in terms of scale but looks ok with the historical minis I use alot of.

Not bad for a fiver

Vikings, Wrestling, Cornish Language - What's not to love

My reenactment group are taking part in Awenek again this year - if you've never been then it's a great one day event which brings together heritage organisations, reenactors and Cornish language organisations together at Enys Gardens in Penryn.

I have two kids and they both love it every year - kids tickets are also free (adults are £7.50 for members, 12.50 for non members - a membership also gets you into every EH property in Cornwall for free) so not bad value for a day out.

I should also mention the whole thing is put on by Cornwall Heritage Trust so tickets help to support all the work they do maintaining free to visit historical sites around Cornwall.

First Battlemarch Vs Chaos

Played my first game of BattleMarch versus a Slaaneshi army. It was really fun! List building was simple and allowed for some low complexity choices without feeling underpowered.

The peasants had a bad day to start, being flank charged thanks to a massive roll on the chaos spawns random move. Luckily they were controlling the tower at the time and so they had Stubborn.

Hilariously the peasants then continued to make rolls (and used triptych) to the point where the lone Yeoman rolled a double 1 to fall back in good order as the last survivor. The chaos warriors failed to rally and reform and charged by the KOTR, ending up fleeing and then being run down.

Yeoman are once again the MVPs, rear charging the chariot to rescue the Gallant from the errants and then rear charging the chaos spawns.

The final indignity for Chaos was that the last spawn got trampled by horses before it could try and take the Barons last wound with stomp attacks.

Duke on Hippogryph Conversion

Bought the Stormcast Lord Vigilant a while ago cheap off of Facebook Marketplace, then printed up some wings, a shield and a head for the conversion. Ended up needing alot of green stuff for gap filling which I'm less happy about but overall pleased with the outcome
