Chester says he’s a bit broken today but normal service resumes tomorrow
My sweet boy has a heart murmur
It’s grade 5. He’s just turned 14 in April. 2 syncopy episodes took us to the vet a couple of weeks ago - they put him on pimobendan. He’s absolutely fine in himself, enjoying walks, eating, generally himself. No more syncopy since being on the medication but a couple of coughs here and there, which isn’t normal for him before the episodes.
I’m so anxious that I’m not sleeping and any movement or noise, I’m getting worried that he’s going to go. Has anyone else had a grade 5 murmur with their JRT?
What do I do with her wire coat?
Luna is a rescue from the streets 3 months ago. Before she did not have an undercoat and it is finally starting to develop. I'm not sure what breed she is but she appears to be mostly a Jack Russell. The wire coat is very long but it is not dead hair and the undercoat is slowly growing back. Are the long hairs supposed to be plucked to keep her properly groomed? The hairs don't seem to have any give, but all the pictures I've seen of similar looking dogs they need to be plucked when they get to this point.
looks like he listens to smooth jazz and avoids commitment
Does my dog go here?
I know y'all get these posts a lot, and sometimes they seem ridiculous, but bear with me. I got this little guy from a shelter, he was labeled as a JRT mix. He does have a strong drive to chase vermin, likes to dig and burrow. and can jump incredibly high. He's pretty calm in the home, but outside gets very energetic. My uncle had JRT's when I was growing up, and I see the resemblance, but I thought I'd ask the JRT lovers here what you think.
Ted
Teddy was feeling a bit sleepy after a long walk.
Butter v Pickle
These goblins - full siblings, 4 years apart - do this morning, elevensies, luncheon, afternoon evening and night. Without fail.
The bed was made to start with… I swear.
Meet Ian! Available for adoption
Meet Ian! One of my favorite pups at the rescue where I volunteer. Ian has been waiting over a year for his forever home, and I just know the right person is out there for him. This 8 year old Rat Terrier / Jack Russell mix may only be 15 pounds, but he has a HUGE personality. As a Jack Russell lover myself, I find his spicy little attitude absolutely adorable. Ian loves walks, puzzle toys, and soaking up the sun. Once he trusts you, he’s incredibly affectionate and will happily curl up in your lap for cuddles.Ian is potty trained, crate trained, and recently showed what a great adventure buddy he can be during a picnic and park day with one of our volunteers. He was calm in the car and loved relaxing outside.
Ian takes a little time to warm up to new people, especially men, and would do best as the only pet since he likes his food and toys to himself. I just know there’s a Jack Russell lover out there who would appreciate his bossy personality! He’s at abandoned pet rescue in Fort Lauderdale fl!!
Getting our first JRT in a couple weeks, tell me about your pups!
Getting a 10 week old puppy whose mother was rescued from a hoarding/BYB situation. I’ve had a terrier previously and our current dog is an Aussie mix, so we’re ready for high energy jack russell shenanigans!
What are your pups like? What makes a jack russell so unique? Every time I’ve told someone in my life about our upcoming puppy, I find that people either love or hate Jack Russells.
Do all JRTs sit on hind legs on occasion?
Short: Do JRTs sit on their hind legs?
Long but possibly funny scenario that makes me question this:
My dog is special. His brain seems to have been removed with his balls.
And most times, he is a good creature. Listening to commands, sleeping, turning the void behind his eyes into chaos. Normal JRT things.
Except, one command that needs BOTH of us to work. The one command that he created.
I sit or lay on the couch, doing my own thing. And he will come up to me, look at me with that demanding determination. And he will lift his fron paws, staring, and just check if my telepathy skills have finally woken up.
If I dont react, he will sit for a while, until his front legs reach the couch. And then sit up again, like the T-Rex that somehow got into his DNA. All until I say: "What"
And then he will bark at me once, before laying down right next to me. Or on top of me, depending on my position.
In no other context does he react to "What", just when he asks for permission to lay next to me. I NEVER TAUGHT HIM TO ASK PERMISSION. Im fine with him just plopping into my lap whenever, and many times he will do just that. But once a day, he will ask permission for whatever reason and idk?!
Yard work and help !!
Does anyone else have trouble doing any jobs around the garden, without a jack russell going mental, every time we get out the blower or strimmer our dog turns into a tasmanian devil ! Still love him though
Allergies or something else?
My JRT (3 y.o. male) has allergies that was treated before with Apoquel and I put him back on Apoquel again as of one week ago. And he gets treated baths once a week. His diet does not consist of chicken. He always since he was younger would drag his body on the bed, couch, and rug. Im thinking its to scratch himself cause of his allergies which got worse once we moved into an apartment. We used to live with my dad and he did not have allergies or this skin problem. Now it looks worse and spread all over his underbelly, near his man hood, legs, and some on his chest. His paws are getting better with the Apoquel which were raw and super red. Has anyone experienced these red dots on their JRT?
He loves getting his scratches
I love my parson so much❤️ he is my absolute best buddy and deserves all the scratches he wants.
