Mortgage advice.

My boyfriend and I are both teachers, and we’re planning to buy a house in early 2027. He’s been on a full-time permanent contract in a secondary school for 8 years.

I also work for the Department of Education as my main employer being a primary school teacher but I’m currently on maternity cover and one-year fixed-term contracts, so I’m not permanent yet.

We should have a deposit of either €30k or €50k, depending on when we buy, and we plan to use the Help to Buy scheme as well. Will the fact that I don’t have a permanent contract affect our chances of getting approved for a mortgage?
