Anyone seeing Online Semi penalty action?

We are a week after close of public review, and a week away from finalization.

I haven't seen or heard of much action - either penalties or the sometimes-offered approvals. How 'bout you?

Anybody else here with a heart throwing PVCs?

70M here thrown a surprise in the Open 26.1 "death by wallballs" WO. I tried for big sets and quickly succumbed - taking longer and longer rests and not feeling it help much. The scary thing - I routinely run a HR in the 170's, but my Polar chest showed peaks of 200!

Long story short, redoing the WO in chunks of 5 WB increased my rep score by 25%, and my polar didn't see any such HR peaks.

Even better, I passed a subsequent echo/stress test with flying colors. The Dr and techs were grinning. They said I have nothing to worry about.

It turns out, like a lot of healthy people, my heart throws "Premature Ventricular Contractions" and my Dr figures it confused the polar strap. PVC's are most common during recovery, and the peaks lined up with when I took rests. Go figure. They can cause a "fluttering discomfort" which tracks with my weird feeling when sitting on the box.

Anybody else have PVC's? How do you manage them?

In the semis just completed, I got to going slow on the thrusters and my buddy observed I wasn't breathing very hard. My life experience has not been wtih intense exercise. There have been other comp workouts where I'm so careful, I'm not tired at the end! But I don'g want to trigger PVCs. When people say "manage your heart rate", I'm still sorting out just how to do that.

Cheers

How many competitors were lost because of the head-judge requirement?

When you read the rulebook and watch the advanced videos, it seems like CF is thinking of the online semifinals as if they are like in-person comps where an esteemed head judge watches over a team of less-experienced floor judges to insure standards compliance. Right. I guess there are few boxes like that.

Here in normal land, the floor judges are the experienced ones and the head judge wonders why they have to be there. Watch the videos and tell me if you EVER see a head judge "guiding" the floor judge. While well-intentioned, the requirement seems useless. We were really lucky this year to have a total of two athletes competing. We couldn't do the workouts together, because we had to judge each other!

For most, it is a huge challenge to schedule five workouts crammed into one weekend including the facility outside of class times, each athlete and two qualified judges within their life schedules.

I suggest that the head-judge requirement is counter-productive - limiting the interest and participation in online semifinals, with marginal benefit to standards compliance.

If you, or someone you know personally, did not participate and would have if the requirement were lifted, please comment. Or if you think it actually helps, comment as well.

Thoughts Post Semifinals

70m here, with this this my third go at semifinals. Here are my thoughts. Please share yours too.
1 - I was hoping OHS were gone for good. But I got all the tips I could and managed 15 at this doable weight of 75lb. Made me realize I HAVE made a bit of mobility progress and it’s worth keeping at it. I had lots of incentive, since I love climbs and can whip them out.
2 - It would have been nice to show off my dubs but I didn’t make it. Can I ever speed up my burpee step overs?
3 - This chipper was as hard as expected. Good to find out what happens in a second round. Nice that it didn’t have any high skill challenges, so it was pure endurance.
4 - What fun! My favorite lift and right under my 1RM! The person working the hardest was my loader. It is really nice to see a pure strength test again.
5 - This year I finally managed a few strict HSPU. I had hoped for more, but will keep building. Nice to have them against hanging lunges, so it was a pure HSPU test.

Hey Semi Athletes - is the dashboard not liking your judge entries?

I'm reminded that with Mac/Safari when I start typing it auto-fills from my contacts which does NOT work if you leave it at that. Instead, you have to click the CF drop down that appears behind to make it a valid entry.

I've gone on ad-nauseam here about the revelation that enabled my double unders after four agonized years. Unlike singles, where jumping when the rope gets overhead works just fine, with dubs this is WAY too early. You'll never get the second swing under in time. You WILL hit your shins. (You know this part too well)

Rather than "jump rope", think "rope jump". The video illustrates it better than anything I've seen.

The rules read like the head judge is named "for the competition", like one person for all five workouts. For us, this is a royal scheduling mess. We've posed the question to HQ, but meanwhile, does anyone know if they allow more than one head judge per affiliate?

I had 8 AM PT today in my calendar and see nothing as of 8:15. Also, I can't figure out where I got that. Was it wishful thinking it would be like last year?
