We need a new culture around leaks.

I’m really hyped for films like Doomsday and I absolutely love the buzz around them. But lately I’ve noticed that some major channels, podcasters and accounts (often ones I love so I won’t name and shame) have rather flippantly discussed alleged leaks without any kind of warning. The same happens with rumours.

I think it’s because these things are “unconfirmed” until the movie comes out, but they’re still potentially massive spoilers that have been released onto the internet. And what frustrates me is they’re talked about with the same lack of warning as something in a trailer might be. This isn’t just a Marvel issue either, it’s happening with DC and a ton of fandoms, but I being it up as I’m seeing it a lot with Doomsday discussion.

We need to get tighter on this, by at least saying “potential spoiler warning” or just “rumour warning” or “potential leak warning”. Is anybody else noticing this or is it just me?

EDIT: Guys this needs to be a movement. If this happens, even on our favourite channels, we need to call it out. Return to the old ways of spoiler protection. Zeus’s Law but for internet nerd culture.

My prediction (dream) for the ending of Man of Tomorrow

Okay so Jon Stewart, Supergirl and the rest of the Justice Gang are confirmed, and there’s been some rumours about Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter.

I’m picturing that for some reason Maxwell Lorde falls into disgrace in this movie. Or he’s doing fine but decides he wants/needs to sell the Justice Gang or break it apart or something. Mr Terrific and Metamorpho are set to break off and do the Mr Terrific show to form the Terrifics, the rest all stay.

So anyway right at the end of the film the team are all in the Hall of Justice, thinking the Justice Gang is over. Then Maxwell Lord announces on his way out that he was bought out.

The new buyer walks through the door. “Ladies and gentlemen, meet Bruce Wayne.” And it’s our first look at DCU Bruce. This launches the Wonder Woman and Brave and the Bold as two of the next major films in the DCU (which either go back or just happen off to the side), and then the next big event movie is Justice League.

What would you guys like to see?

(Also have no idea how and when they’ll bring in Flash, it sounds like his original film will be a little bit of time away so maybe Barry or Wally will show up in someone else’s movie/show? The Jimmy Olsen show?)
