M22 Suffering from AGA

I’ve been dealing with hypothyroidism for around 10+ years and noticeable hair thinning/hair loss for the last 4 years. My density is now very low, especially at the crown and mid-scalp, and my scalp is clearly visible when wet or under light. I’ve lost a lot of volume overall.

Treatment history:

On/off topical minoxidil + multivitamins for years

Consistently for the last 8–9 months:

Oral minoxidil 2.5 mg

Topical minoxidil 10%

Multivitamins

Results:

Hair fall reduced a bit

Slight regrowth

But density is still poor and hair remains thin/weak

Now my doctor has changed my treatment and suggested:

Stop oral minoxidil for now

Start topical minoxidil 5%

Finasteride 1 mg daily

He said something like my body may not be processing/absorbing oral minoxidil properly, and that it gets converted in the liver but may not be effectively helping the scalp, so he wants to “reset/change” the approach.

Shall i stop taking min and multivitamin?
