Greggs employee sickness policy help!!

Okay so I’ve recently started a Shift Manager role at Greggs. I started about a week ago the 22nd and all was going well.

A few days in, both me and my partner got extremely poorly from food poisoning (we know this as he was so bad I had to take him to hospital where he had a drip for dehydration). We were both suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting - working around food, I know this meant I wasn’t allowed to be in work for atleast 48hrs from my last symptoms.

So I’m currently in my 12 week probationary period, and I’m training at another shop while mine is being finished. As per the sickness policy, I needed to ring 2hrs ahead of my shift to notify of my upcoming absence - I was on a 6am shift so no one would be in until
6.. so I rang once at 5.10 (no one there), and again a few times at 6.30am, I got through, spoke to my currently training manager and explained. She was evidently annoyed and offered no ‘feel better soon’, just told me this was marked as absence without explanation.. as I didn’t call at 5.45, or before my start shift. I explained this was because I was at the hospital with my partner and she basically said it is what it is. Due to me giving my symptoms, and both of us being aware of the 48hr policy of no work, I failed to ring before 2pm again to say I wasn’t going to be in the following day, my bad - but I assumed it was a given.
Anyway, my proper manager basically said don’t stress it just get better and we’ll go from here.

Fast forward to yesterday morning, after being off for 2 days, I started to feel a little better so at 10am I rang my manager and said I’ll be in for my shift tomorrow, again a very clipped ‘ok’ 10 second call. However a few hours later after attempting some food I threw up again. So I then rang again this morning at 6am and apologised, explained I was sick again after our call and that I wouldn’t be in. Now I’m on my 3rd day off, by 2pm today I have to ring and decide if I’m going in tomorrow..

I really don’t feel well enough still, my biggest concern is working on food I don’t want to pass any illness onto customers or staff, but the anxiety over annoying people I’ve just met, or better yet losing my job (as I’m still in probationary period) if I take another day off to recuperate. Can anyone please advise me on the sickness policy when in the probationary period?

I have had 2 days consecutive classed as ‘sickness’ then the first days ‘absence without approval’ due to me not following the right procedure with calling on time - can I be fired over this? I’m feeling super anxious, I’m not sure if it’s multiple sickness days or sickness periods when considering termination. Aside from this my actual manager has been a big support saying I can’t help being poorly… but this was 2 days ago and now I’m scared I’ll lose my job when I return.

Any advice sooo appreciated!
TIA
