What?
What do they think that’s gonna do 😭 I don’t really go to greggs if I’m being so honest but I have signed up in the past and just saw this email. I was so confused. Sounds so good though, now I want one.

Just had this notif on the app after seeing staff post emails and instructions earlier this week. It really is a stunt.
This football mania is pure insanity. What on earth is the point of this?? Are football fans that manic that they'll get offended if they see a Mexican style sandwich? Am I missing something?
Hey, what is the procedure for calling in sick when you’re on an opening shift the next day. For context, I’m not well as of today and I doubt I’ll be better by tomorrow morning. Do I call in now before 2? or message my manager? or both…? 😭
I've been trying my best and am worried that I'm too slow with packing items and making sandwiches, my manager has caught me cursing when not around customers. I once gave a cheese pizza to someone who wanted pepperoni and she thinks I dont listen to her and I cant get out if the "buddy" system. Apparently I make sandwiches slower than average and I once said "oh fuck" when the area manager walked in the kitchen silently and he thinks I made fun of him when heeft but I didn't I was genuinely panicking saying "ohh that was the area manager??" To a coworker
Can someone tell me if I have a high likelihood of getting fired??
I wven responded ate to the email cause I have 2 weeks off cause I'm scattering ashes this week and responded an hour late than I was meant to. I emailed and apologised profusely.
i only work weekends at greggs + my manager has recently given me days off saying that i don’t need to come in and on my payslip they come up as holiday days. i’m on an 8hours part time contract only doing 4 hours a week which also sucks.
why does she keep doing this and will i have any holiday left if I actually want to use it?
Do you lot get to take the leftovers home for tea, or does it all have to go strictly into the bins because of company policy? It always breaks my heart thinking about all those lovely bakes potentially going to waste
For me it has to be the ham and cheese pasty which vanished years ago and never truly got a proper replacement
Hey guys, I somehow got the job despite my interview being pretty bad haha but it takes me a while to get used to new things and I get really anxious at them so does anyone have any tips for how to do things, even just knowing how to do simple tasks step by step will help me alot 😭 Like the best order to prepare things? Also what's the till system like, easy to get used to?
I think i'll be on breakfast shifts quite alot, any help will be appreciated <3
I have a team member interview within the next week, and I've been wondering what kind of dress code is expected.
Would it need to be formal, or would smart-casual be fine (trousers and a smart shirt)?
Ive got an interview for greggs and it will be my first official job( all the other things ive done were volunteering in a pre school and summer internship programmes at tech companies)
I dont really know what to do to answer the questions if they ask about name one time ive given good customer service
Its on monday so please help
Okay so I’ve recently started a Shift Manager role at Greggs. I started about a week ago the 22nd and all was going well.
A few days in, both me and my partner got extremely poorly from food poisoning (we know this as he was so bad I had to take him to hospital where he had a drip for dehydration). We were both suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting - working around food, I know this meant I wasn’t allowed to be in work for atleast 48hrs from my last symptoms.
So I’m currently in my 12 week probationary period, and I’m training at another shop while mine is being finished. As per the sickness policy, I needed to ring 2hrs ahead of my shift to notify of my upcoming absence - I was on a 6am shift so no one would be in until
6.. so I rang once at 5.10 (no one there), and again a few times at 6.30am, I got through, spoke to my currently training manager and explained. She was evidently annoyed and offered no ‘feel better soon’, just told me this was marked as absence without explanation.. as I didn’t call at 5.45, or before my start shift. I explained this was because I was at the hospital with my partner and she basically said it is what it is. Due to me giving my symptoms, and both of us being aware of the 48hr policy of no work, I failed to ring before 2pm again to say I wasn’t going to be in the following day, my bad - but I assumed it was a given.
Anyway, my proper manager basically said don’t stress it just get better and we’ll go from here.
Fast forward to yesterday morning, after being off for 2 days, I started to feel a little better so at 10am I rang my manager and said I’ll be in for my shift tomorrow, again a very clipped ‘ok’ 10 second call. However a few hours later after attempting some food I threw up again. So I then rang again this morning at 6am and apologised, explained I was sick again after our call and that I wouldn’t be in. Now I’m on my 3rd day off, by 2pm today I have to ring and decide if I’m going in tomorrow..
I really don’t feel well enough still, my biggest concern is working on food I don’t want to pass any illness onto customers or staff, but the anxiety over annoying people I’ve just met, or better yet losing my job (as I’m still in probationary period) if I take another day off to recuperate. Can anyone please advise me on the sickness policy when in the probationary period?
I have had 2 days consecutive classed as ‘sickness’ then the first days ‘absence without approval’ due to me not following the right procedure with calling on time - can I be fired over this? I’m feeling super anxious, I’m not sure if it’s multiple sickness days or sickness periods when considering termination. Aside from this my actual manager has been a big support saying I can’t help being poorly… but this was 2 days ago and now I’m scared I’ll lose my job when I return.
Any advice sooo appreciated!
TIA
Good Evening Folks,
Shift manager here. Been working for this company for about a year. It was used to be quite chill but from couple of months I just started to hate it so much. Recently when I told a gent that we can't take 50 pounds note, he got aggressive and called me a Indian c@ntt. And I told him to speak respectfully or leave. And then last week a guy bought a sausage roll and asked if it is warm and I passed it to him so he can feel. He agreed and paid for it and then came back and thrown sausage roll to my face and called me a brown fu@ker and left. I felt embarassed but I can't do much, so stayed quite. Now today when I sold some bakes and gave it to costumer and they ask for bag and I told them it's 10p and he argued that it should be free and I gently told them that I can't give it to free as it's the policy and he paid and now I passed him the bag and then he asked me to chuck his stuff in the bag but I said I am not allowed to as it's my companys policy and he starting calling me terrible things and useless scum and now I got terrified after that and still I was respectful and apologized and wished him a good day and look after yourself and he answered that, you're the one who will be looked after well and your days are near.😔 I feel terrible about those incidents. And I wonder why these things are happening to me. I never felt that bad that I am now.
pay
So i’m contacted 8 hours a week and my manager gave me a shift on wednesday and another on thursday which is pay day. does this mean ill only get paid for the shift i did on the Wednesday im a new employee
So I’ve been off sick for 3 shifts now once last week and twice this week will i get paid sick pay for them shifts or not. I got told sick pay had changed so im not sure any help would be appreciated
What do I need to know?
Dos and donts
How can I replicate it as closely as possible?
I know it's a double shot, and I think it's Tate and Lyle syrup. How much milk is used? Thank you ❤️
For example if I use my holiday time off to get my first tattoo- nothing explicit, just some flowers or something else simple on my arm, would I get in trouble over it?
I don't see anyone else in my store with visible tattoos so I'm not sure, I'd ask my store but my manager is off for the next two weeks and I don't think the shift managers would know the protocol since no one else has tattoos (that are visible anyway)
I keep seeing people say it's surprisingly decent but I can never tell if that's an honest assessment or just the low expectations of someone who wasn't expecting much
