Prevelo Alpha Five MkIII a good choice?
Located in the US.
Would be for my 11 year old. Mixed use, some longer rides on nice paved surfaces, some mild-medium off-road, but not really anything mountain bike territory.
Budget is ~$1,000 at the upper end. He's got a few younger siblings that would be inheriting the bike, so I don't mind spending a bit extra for quality.
Definitely want something that is easily repairable and upgradeable, so no proprietary parts or sizing.
Currently uses a 24" Guardian, so looking for the step up from there. Seems like he's just entering the size where XS adult bikes start to become an option, but some of these kids' bikes manufacturers claim that small adult geometry considerations are a bit different than those for a similarly sized child.
