Need help rethinking a tricky 22 × 52 ft house layout
Hi everyone,
We’re planning a new floor/terrace extension over our existing house, with a usable area of roughly 22 × 52 ft. It’s a fairly narrow and long space with some existing structural and access constraints.
We already have two plans from an architect, but neither really works for our requirements, so we’re trying to rethink the layout before construction.
Broadly, we’re looking for:
- 2 bedrooms
- 1 multipurpose room
- Good-sized living + dining
- Medium/semi-open kitchen
- 2 bathrooms(1 attached+ 1 common)
- Utility/washing area
- Some outdoor/winter sitting space
The house is primarily for my parents, so comfortable room sizes, good circulation, light/ventilation and practical day-to-day use matter more than simply fitting in more rooms.
I’ve attached the existing site/structural sketches and the two plans we received.
I’d really appreciate input from architects, architecture students, or anyone experienced with residential planning:
How would you approach this kind of narrow/long layout? Are there fundamentally better ways to organize the spaces and circulation?
I’m also open to paid professional help if someone is interested in taking this up properly. Budget: around ₹15,000 depending on the scope.
Thanks!
