Architect/ Interior designer

Hey everyone F27 here,

I’m an architect + interior designer currently open for freelance work and collaborations.

I work on:

• Residential architecture

• Interior design

• Facade concepts

• Space planning

• Vastu Consultation

• Renovations/ Remodel

• 3D visualization & walkthroughs

• Working drawings / presentation drawings

Software: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, Twinmotion, V-Ray, Photoshop.

I’m especially interested in projects that want thoughtful design instead of copy-paste Pinterest architecture. I like working with clean modern aesthetics, materials, lighting, and spaces that actually feel good to live in.

Open to:

• Freelance projects

• Remote drafting/modeling support

• Design collaborations

• Visualization/render work for architects & studios

Based in but available for remote work as well.

If you’re looking for someone reliable, detail-oriented, and design-focused, feel free to DM me with your project or requirements.

How Much Should Freelance Architects Charge for Drawings & Renders?

Hi,

I'm an Architect, recently graduated. I do freelance works as part time. But I have a feeling I'm undercharging. So I would like some advice on how much to charge for freelance works

How much do people usually charge for works like-

- Electrical Drawings

- Working drawings

- Elevation drawings

- Interior drawings (per room - including design)

- Interior dwg (per room - with existing 3d; just need to draft)

- Detail drawings of specific units (like study, wardrobe etc)

- Renders Lumion

- Renders Enscape

- Renders D5

I know pricing also varies depending on the details of each spaces and sizes.. but what would be a suitable range of pricing for the above mentioned spaces.

It would be really helpful if someone could guide me on this.

It's a fuc**dup Place! Please if you ppl could guide me , Like which good firms are hiring or anything related to that!

Need Suggestions: Interior Designer vs Contractor for 1 BHK Renovation?

I wanted to change my 1 BHK flooring along with kitchen and bathroom tiles.

I’m confused whether I should involve an interior designer or just take quotations from contractors and get the work done directly through a contractor.

Are there any disadvantages of not involving an interior designer?

For civil renovation works like flooring, tiling, bathroom, kitchen basic work — is an interior designer actually needed or can a good contractor handle everything properly?

Would love suggestions from designers and people who have done similar renovation work.

Unpopular Opinion: Architects Need to Stop Giving Free Design Advice

I see many people uploading house plans here seeking design advice. While helping people is great, architects should also remember that design consultation is part of our professional service and expertise. Constantly giving detailed free advice and solutions can unintentionally undervalue an already underpaid profession in India.

How bad is the unpaid concept work problem for licensed architects in India, actually? (Licensed Architects in India)

I keep seeing this come up in threads here but never with any real numbers attached to it: clients who review your initial concept work and then hire a cheaper contractor to execute it. Or lose a project entirely to someone with zero CoA registration charging ₹15/sqft.

Curious how common this actually is across different cities and practice sizes. Put together a quick anonymous poll — no names, no firms, no login. Just trying to get a clearer picture of something the community talks about but nobody has hard data on.

Results will be posted back here publicly for everyone to see. Nothing commercial, no consulting being asked for — just an anonymous poll about a business reality most of us apparently share.

Anyone willing to share their experience in the comments too — how do you currently handle the initial consultation fee conversation with new clients?

Floor plan help

Hi All, we are in the process to reconstruct our home. Currently getting old getting demolished. Some details: Plot size: 200 square yards, Dimensions: 30 x 60 ft Facing: front facing almost South West, Both side existing property. Front good enough road, back service lane Construction: stilt parking + four floors. Lift with 6 person capacity

Expectations:

  1. we want every possible place to have some natural light(next to impossible).
  2. Maximum storage, not just standard wardrobes that builders give.
  3. Most probably 3bhk + 3 washrooms, maybe a powder room.

My fairytale wants: I hope to not have a living room where all the bedrooms door open. Not a completely open kitchen.

A passage or gallery which has a foyer and all rooms and kitchen open into it.

I have attached multiple floor plans that builder have given. According to him the stairs are going to be northwest side.

No washrooms in the north east side

Kitchen should be in east for proper ventilation which I agree too(but my expectations are differing)

He is making most of the washrooms in the middle with opening in shafts, which In my opinion is not a good option.

A person who have made homes in the past suggested that south should be super heavy so make kitchen in the front? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I am attaching screenshots of floor plans plus one more that I had roughly drawn. Please suggest what changes can be done so that it looks maximum like what i had drawn. Or any other insights are highly appreciated. Also in some possibilities there is a fourth room too, a small one which can be used to make study or office.

Can you tell me if this plan is as per sun diagram

I want to know if the kitchen and other facing is correct or not.

Can you guys please review this and tell me some improvements?

My father hired an architect to get this floor plan designed and asked me if everything is alright. I'm just a regular guy, don't know any technicality of architecture. Can you guys do a quick review if everything is fine here and not a lot of area is getting wasted.

A few things to know:

The absence of an en-suite bathroom is the family's choice

The house will be facing west, and summer is harsh there.

Circulation and ventilation is a core priority.

Rest you guys know it well. Looking for your insights...

Edit:

North <------

Sorry guys for not mentioning all the details. I would like to connect with an architect here to discuss this and may hire to get it designed. Thank you all.

Says in India, Art Deco is architecture of the common man (as compared to displays of power in America) vs. neo-Gothic/neo-Classical structures

Also says that the rise of gated communities, the lack of integration with Navi Mumbai is hurting Mumbai's growth. Explains why it's impossible for India to create it's own national architectural style

Thoughts?

Qualifications/certifications for highly experienced construction professionals without degrees?

I’m registering an architecture/construction consultancy in India. One of my associates is only 10th pass but has years of hands-on experience across execution, supervision, labour/vendor handling, measurements, coordination, materials, and overall site management. He basically handles end-to-end on-site work.

We won’t misrepresent him as an Architect or Engineer, but many tenders ask for technically qualified staff/team credentials.

What are the best legitimate certifications, diplomas, or programs that actually add credibility in bidding and firm profiles?

Considering:

  • Construction management/supervision
  • Quantity surveying
  • AutoCAD drafting
  • Safety certifications
  • NSDC / Skill India / CIDC programs

Would appreciate practical advice from architects, contractors, PMC firms, or people handling government/private tenders in India.

What’s the best way to search for an architect?

I’m building my first house. I’ve about 2500 square yards land parcel on which I want to build a eco friendly home. Maybe turn into Airbnb for eco tourism later. I’ve not done something like this before. I wanted some guidance on how to search for an architect. I have some broad ideas in my mind. But I’m looking for someone who brings creativity and can help in execution also.
Any kind of guidance would help.
