Title ix

The use of “m.e.” in this piece is a stylistic choice.

A student had previously been had to leave from his former university for 2.5 years for a serious issue. Despite that history, he was admitted to my university. He admitted he had given alcohol to m.e. The school knew my age and I considered this as pressure. His verbal admission was ignored. This was only one of several incidents included, but issues were narrowed to one night. He attempted to cancel the process by claiming he was “leaving the state and the school as a whole,” I think the school was relieved. Things felt rushed, as if they believed the problem had already removed itself and they no longer needed to label him in any meaningful way. I sought help outside of the school but they used the school’s outcome as their “investigation.” I learned about the of one route too late, and that time has pass for it in my state. Now that I am older and more aware of my rights, I will try again to push another process before the time ends. In the end, they classified his behavior only as “abusive misconduct,” required counseling, and prohibited him from coming around m.e. To this day, the school has refused to provide m.e. with my records.
