Dogs are the most socially accepted badly behaved animals
Yes, I know there are a few well-trained, clean, calm dogs out there. However many dogs and their owners are obnoxious.
They stink, jump on people, bark nonstop, destroy furniture, slobber everywhere, and somehow dog owners expect everyone around them to act like it’s adorable. Why is it socially acceptable for me to walk into someone’s house and immediately have an animal shoving its nose up my ass while the owner just stands there laughing like “hehe he’s saying hi :)”
No. Get your animal away from me.
And so many dog people LOVE talking shit about cats when honestly cat owners are usually way less invasive. I can go to someone’s house with a cat and exist peacefully without being tackled at the front door.
Also the refusal some dog owners have to admit their dog is badly behaved is insane. A dog can literally growl, snap, or try to bite someone and somehow it’s still the human’s fault for “petting him wrong.” Then maybe warn people your dog is aggressive instead of acting shocked every time it acts insane.
Most cat people will at least warn you beforehand if their cat is mean, and cats usually have obvious warning signs before they lash out. Meanwhile I’ve met so many people with badly behaved dogs who act like nothing is wrong. It’s literally a ticking time bomb until their dog seriously hurts someone and has to get put down.
And the craziest part is I’ve known people who got bitten badly enough by dogs to need stitches and STILL blamed themselves instead of the animal.
I’ve literally had dogs try to bite me while their owners acted completely oblivious so they wouldn’t have to discipline the dog. One person literally gave the dog a treat right after it tried to bite me.
Dog culture has convinced people that badly behaved animals are somehow charming and that anyone who dislikes dogs is automatically bad.
I know there are plenty of well-behaved, trained dogs out there and this obviously isn’t about them. But I’ve met so many ridiculous owners with zero understanding of how to train or control their dog that it has genuinely ruined dogs for me.
It’s insane how intrusive people let their dogs be and how normalized it is. Jumping on strangers, barking nonstop, invading personal space, growling at people, destroying things, and somehow everyone is expected to tolerate it because “that’s just how dogs are.”
And before people start crying that I “hate animals,” I don’t. Dogs actually tend to like me, and I’m generally an animal lover. I just think a lot of dogs suck because a lot of owners are irresponsible and refuse to acknowledge bad behavior.
At this point I keep my distance because you genuinely never know with some of these owners or their dogs.
