Outdoor Couch with Cedar and DIY Upolstery
The outdoor couch was designed by myself through CAD and executed I’d say in about 3 Months.
I’m a pretty novice woodworker that got into the hobby because of buying a house but prices at Arhaus or RH has been astronomical to even make it feasible for us to entertain furnishing.
Cedar was S4S’d using a Hammer A3-41 Joint Planer.. such a beast. I had the old style LunchBox Harborfreight Hercules and did the job for small stuff but I jointed/planed 250BF 6-8FT stock in hours.
Used Festool Domino for the Joints.. I didn’t used a single screw in this build. That’s a lie, maybe the feet to keep it floated from the patio floor.
This is my only couch experience so I didn’t know the dimensions or any standards. I had to go to RH and Arhaus showroom with a notebook and a tape measure for rough dimensions.
This was also my only time sewing.. So I bought two King Mattress that was getting tossed and disassembled them. I have to separate each layer and basically find the best combination for what we’re looking for.
I used RH Performance Fabrics and sewed with a Janine Straight Stitch HD9…. This thing is also a beast.
I’m open for any criticism but everyone loved the look and I hope this would last us forever.
