Now offshore teams are competing against each other.

U.S based employees are getting f***ed from multiple directions. I can’t open LinkedIn without raging.

I just saw a post from someone in Argentina stating, in summary, that it’s cheaper to hire offshore teams that are closer in time zone to you and your clients because otherwise that 24-hour cycle for every question turns into a cost.

Argentina vs. India

And the U.S employees are sitting there 😮

I swear it’s not AI that’s the imminent threat. And don’t be a fool and say “offshoring has always existed” because now technology has advanced in the security and privacy space that makes it easier for companies to securely send work out of the U.S.

I can’t wait until all of this collapses. My hatred for corporations grow every day. Eat the rich.

Potentially getting an industry job, how do I adjust to not being busy 24/7

Moving from public to industry. Body aged 100 years, soul is deceased. Industry is getting whatever is leftover.

How do I adjust to not being busy every minute? Do people in industry go to their manager and say “I am avaliable for work” all the time when they aren’t busy?

I want to leave my job. I can’t fathom going another day.

But I have a history of job hopping (most were temp positions during Covid). My current job is the longest I had.

Should I leave my current one without anything lined up? I looked into switching to another public accounting firm, but even they aren’t hiring me.

I’m in PA. A large firm but teams are small depending on your niche. My immediate niche is small so you work with the same supervisors and managers often.

I recently for the past few months have been working with supervisor who took over engagements after a director (who I used to work with closely) left.

The supervisor has made my life incredibly difficult. He is a micromanager and the one who wants responses to emails/teams messages within minutes. What is the appropriate time to respond to teams/emails?

He had this Monday off, but was online constantly. He messaged me “please check in this and this, I intend to work on it tomorrow” but I didn’t have these sections checked out. And he also told me before already that he is working on those. Funny enough, he hasn’t worked on those sections so I found it weird he messaged me on his day off to tell me to check them in.

On Friday of last week, at 4:40 pm before my time off, he messaged me “can you review the items -client name- just sent us?” And I wrote “I definitely can when I return on Monday May 4th. Does that work?” and he just put a like 👍🏻 on the message.

I go back on Monday and I’m already habing so much anxiety from seeing a teams message notification from him. I have never felt this anxiety with anyone.
