Despite overwhelming public support, Ayotte’s executive action legally barred New Hampshire Fish and Game increasing its own independent departmental revenue mechanism. This perpetuates a ten-year stagnation of NHFG's ability to fight inflation by using its own established self funding ability.

Duties of NH Fish and Game

Conserve, manage, and protect: Utilizing science-based practices to manage wildlife species and their habitats in perpetuity.

Inform and educate: Fostering a strong conservation ethic by educating the public on natural resources.

Provide use and appreciation: Maintaining access to state lands, waters, and recreational opportunities (hunting, fishing, and general outdoor exploration).

In addition to traditional wildlife management, the agency is tasked with regulating off-highway recreational vehicles (OHRVs), managing non-game and endangered species, operating fish hatcheries,

and executing search and rescue operations.
