So you daughter is doing some sort of scavenger hunt, and this one of the photos, I think it is from the Midwest of US/Canada. Is there anything significant about this. (I'm not 100% sure it's even of the night sky)

I'm in North Carolina. Over the last 20 years I've seen an small island in a river go from 50 feet by 30 feet, to now approximately 300 feet by 1000 feet, and from what I can tell, it has no ownership, due to erosion and flooding. Is there a way to claim this land. From my understanding the property lines are to the center of the river on each given side. I understand getting g to it without crossing private property may be an issue, but I'm just curious.
