Mom with BPD who self harms
I have a mother with BPD who was diagnosed when she was around twenty, she is around 50 now and is in (what I assume is denial) about her BPD. My family and I have never brought up her BPD too her out of fear she will react badly. I am also guessing she may have completely forgotten she has bpd becuase of the severity of her condition
Tonight she slammed a glass vase on her head which did cause a what seems to be somewhat minor injury
She refuses to go to any medical professional insisting she is ok. The issue with the situation is that no mentally sane person would do something like this and if she gets professional attention they will have to question if she has mental issues which i think would go very badly. considering the fact she reacts very badly when people question her sanity
I think she needs to receive an assessment both physically and mentally but need advice on how to make that happen.
