I'm a second-year Industrial Engineering student, and the programs we'll mainly be using are AutoCAD and Arena for simulations.

I've read posts on this subreddit talking about the Intel model with a dedicated graphics card, but they mention that it overheats and performance drops, so it's not highly recommended.

I'm looking for a 14-inch laptop that will last me at least through my degree and a little longer. My budget is between $450 and $500, so I'm looking for used laptops within that range that can run those programs.

Do you recommend the AMD model or another ThinkPad model that I can find in that price range, or another model from a different brand?
