Anyone else from the Cognizant Python Cluster still waiting for onboarding? (7 months and counting)
Hey everyone,
I was selected by Cognizant through an on-campus placement drive 7 months ago, and like many of you, I've been stuck in total onboarding limbo ever since.
Looking at the calendar and how things are playing out, I wanted to share a pattern I’ve noticed to see if candidates from other colleges are experiencing the exact same thing.
The Graduation Timeline & Direct FTE:
For many of us, official college graduation documents—like the Provisional Certificate (PC) and Consolidated Marks Memo (CMM)—aren't officially issued or finalized until the end of June (around June 30). Because we are hitting the end of the academic cycle without an active joining date, it looks like the traditional final-semester internship window has completely passed. The logical move here is that Cognizant is waiting for these final degree documents to clear background verification (BGV) so they can onboard the remaining pending candidates directly as Full-Time Employees (FTEs).
The Python Cluster Delay:
Interestingly, every single candidate left waiting at my campus belongs to the Python cluster. From what I gather, Java, .NET, and legacy enterprise roles usually get onboarded early in the year because they are tied to predictable maintenance projects. Python roles (Data Engineering, Cloud Automation, Analytics) are linked to different digital client pipelines that typically scale up around mid-year or Q3 (July/August) as corporate project budgets kick in.
This is what I’ve gathered so far. What do you guys think? Has anyone from the Python cluster already been onboarded?
