I’ve done my 3 years in Aus and haven’t managed to secure a more permanent visa route. I’m considering heading to NZ to do the same thing, but wages seem terrible and all I hear is that work is very hard to find.

I heard work was hard to find in Aus but literally never struggled. I just worry the cost of living in NZ is going to be crippling and I don’t want to be losing money just to stay there. I work in food manufacturing if that’s any help.

Any stories or advice from people who’ve done this would be great!

Hi guys, I’m sure this isn’t the first time this has been asked.

29 year old here from the UK, just started my last WHV. I need to find something more permanent to stay here longer - I’ve met an Australian partner here, love her to death, and it’s only really dawning on me that i might have to leave here in 9 months time.

I was counting on being sponsored by my employer (I’m a production supervisor in the beverage industry), but only just found out that there’s a salary floor, which I fall under, for being sponsored. I figure asking for a pay rise AND a sponsorship is off the cards.

As for the defacto visa, although the application fee is around $11,000, I’ve read that realistically it’ll cost around $17,000 - 20,000 with lawyers, checks and tests. All of which is just completely out of range for me financially.

I feel defeated. I work hard, integrate and have created a wonderful Australian life since I got here and it would kill me to have to turn my back on all of it.

Has anyone got any advice? Than you

We broke up two years ago and I’ve since gotten into a stable, loving relationship with someone I absolutely love and adore. I don’t wish to be back with my ex at all, but most days I will think about the relationship, how it ended, what they’re doing right now etc.

I’m probably answering my own question here but the relationship ended very abruptly after a long period of it going quite bad and toxic, so I guess there is an absolute lack of closure. It was a split that had to happen but it all just came to a head one day. We went no contact that day and never spoke again. It was for the best but probably not the best for our mental.

I often have dreams of meeting her again but she’ll have always moved on in the dream and is with another partner. They’re reoccurring and even though they go away for a while, they eventually come back and they bug me because they almost trick my mind into feeling the way it did back after the split. Kind of like when you have a strange dream about a co-worker and feel weird about them the next day at work. It does probably sound like deep down I want her back but I’d like to make it clear I absolutely don’t. I am much much happier these days in life and in my new relationship and have no desire to ever go back and it just makes me feel grimy that my head is often distracted with thoughts of the past. I feel I shouldn’t be thinking about it anymore, as we’ve nearly been apart as long as we were together. It would be reassuring to hear any similar experiences, or if anyone could share any advice. I’ve had a recent purchase email from what I thought was Microsoft. Legit email address, although by logging into my account there’s no recent purchases there.

I’ve foolishly clicked the link and changed my password. But the link was genuinely to the Microsoft website? I am very confused as to how much trouble I am in.

I have rang my bank and there are NO recent transactions relating to Microsoft, or any transactions of the same amount.

Any help as to what I should do next is appreciated. TIA! x

Hi guys. I’ve been wanting to camp on French Island, VIC. It’s a national park and always booked out on Saturdays, probably because it’s so close to Melbourne. I was wondering what are the chances of me being caught by a ranger if I went and pitched up. I’ve never seen a ranger in a year of camping in Australia and I figured since it’s an island I’d probably be fine doing this but don’t want to get caught out.

Any advice or similar situations would be great. Cheers.
