Got stuck in an elevator during an Amazon Flex route and accidentally scared the firefighters
I drive for Amazon Flex, and during a delivery route in the middle of a storm, I got stuck in an apartment complex elevator.
Now, most people would probably panic.
I did not.
As a mom of two small children, I honestly considered it a surprise wellness retreat.
For the next hour, I sat in complete silence playing games on my phone. No one asking for snacks. No one arguing over whose turn it was. No one yelling “Mom!” from another room.
Just peace.
Meanwhile, the firefighters and police had arrived and were working to get me out. At one point they started knocking harder and calling out because apparently I had been so quiet for so long they thought I had either passed out or fallen asleep.
I answered, “Nope, I’m still here. Just playing a game.”
When they finally got the elevator open, they were shocked by how calm I was. One firefighter asked how I managed to stay so relaxed.
I told him, “Honestly? This is basically a mini vacation away from home.”
The entire rescue crew started laughing.
To make things even better, I can proudly say I was fireman-carried out of an elevator like the damsel in distress I never knew I wanted to be.
Afterward, they offered to have me checked out medically, and I told them I was fine, just hungry.
More laughter.
The best part?
I still delivered my package on time, finished my route, and ended up completing the block 30 minutes early.
Amazon Support was useless.
The firefighters and police, however, were absolute legends.
10/10 elevator experience.
Would not recommend.
Would absolutely enjoy the hour of silence again.
