Honda Prologue broke down in a Trip

I drove from Kingston, NY to Rochester in my 2025 Honda Prologue Touring, and out of nowhere I got a “Service High Voltage System” warning. At first I thought it was just another glitch because the car has been buggy every now and then, but then it completely stopped charging 😅

I’m about 350 miles away from home, and this happened during Memorial Day weekend, so basically everything is closed until Tuesday.

I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with Honda Roadside Assistance. They said they can only tow the car to the nearest dealer and not to my home dealer in Kingston. The trip and charging were actually going perfectly fine until this warning suddenly appeared. I specifically decided to take the Prologue instead of my Subaru Legacy because I-87 and I-90 have a solid EV charging network.

I tried multiple resets and troubleshooting steps, but nothing worked. Honestly, Honda Roadside Assistance has been really disappointing. My OnStar also stopped working about 3 months ago.

One roadside assistance rep even told me to disconnect the negative battery terminal. When I said I didn’t have tools, he told me I could just remove it because “there are no bolts.” Meanwhile it’s literally held on by a 10mm nut 🤦‍♂️ I also read that you shouldn’t disconnect the 12V battery until voltage drops below certain level.

At this point I don’t even know what to do next. I left the car at a Honda dealer in Rochester and I’m heading back to Kingston in a rental tomorrow. I need a car for work — I commute around 60 miles daily.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to get a loaner through my local Honda dealer/home dealer under warranty even though the vehicle is currently in Rochester?

Coming from Toyota and subaru, I honestly miss their service right now.

Any advice or similar experiences would really help. I’ll update this post with what happens next. Thank god it is a lease!
