How to reduce/resolve axel click issue

Honestly, this is something I’ve always done with every vehicle I drive. It’s just a habit of mine to put as little stress as possible on the steering rack, CV axles, and other steering components.

One simple rule: never turn the steering wheel while the vehicle is completely stopped. Instead, let the vehicle begin rolling before turning the wheel left or right. Even a slow crawl is enough.

When I bought my used Prologue, it had noticeable clicking noises while turning around corners. After a few weeks of consistently making sure the vehicle was moving before I turned the wheel, the clicking was dramatically reduced—I’d estimate by around 90%. Now it rarely happens.

What I’m getting at is this: if you’re someone who regularly cranks the steering wheel from lock to lock while the vehicle is sitting still, you’re likely putting more load on the steering and axle components, and you may notice the clicking much more often.

To be clear, this isn’t a fix, and you shouldn’t have to change your driving habits to compensate for the issue. The clicking shouldn’t be happening in the first place. But if it’s bothering you, this driving habit has made a significant difference for me, so I thought it was worth sharing as this has-been my experience.

Tire blow out

While driving on the freeway we heard a loud pop followed by a “check tire” notification on the dashboard. We pulled into the Lowe’s parking lot and saw a completely flat tire. Maybe caused by heat? It was 96 yesterday.

Called roadside assistance and got towed to the dealership which was closing in 10 minutes. They said nothing will happen til Monday (holiday, etc).

My question is what am I looking at price-wise? And do I have options? Should I buy a spare? Where would I even store it?

HondaLink Sign up Issue

Hello,

I just bought a used 2024 Prologue Touring. I'm trying to setup the HondaLink app on my Android phone. I can't even finish the set up process. I have been able to enter my email address and then choose the pictures with the object to prove I'm human but the app just won't progress past point. Is this a known issue or is this just a me problem?

Thanks in advance.

2025 EX AWD Software Update?

Very happy owner of a 2025 EX AWD. I bought it used from a small EV centric dealership about two months ago with just over 19k miles and I’ve been extremely happy with this car as my first EV! It looks and drives like a brand new car! I’ve already put over 2500 miles on it with my daily commute and a couple of small trips. The battery range is reporting higher than what it was listed at factory and I do seem to be getting close to the expected range. Being able to charge at work for free is an absolute dream! I rarely need to charge at home and have only charged at public chargers a few times when traveling and just because I wanted ti try out fast charging to know what to expect if I ever need it.

I’ve not had any unexpected issues with the software or any clicking axels or anything like that.

I set up everything to make sure I get notified for any recalls and have verified a few times that my car is not listed for a software recall. That’s a little unfortunate because I’d love to be able to get it updated to Android 14 but it seems only models with a recall or ones that shipped with 14 get it.

To get to the point, I decided to schedule an appointment with the local Honda dealership just to have them check things out and I needed to get the tires rotated. I set up the appointment using the HondaLink app and much to my surprise, it notified me of a recall for a software update related to the HVAC. I was caught off guard by this because entering my VIN anywhere else indicated there were no active recalls. And as I have already mentioned, I’ve had absolutely no software issues and especially no issues with the HVAC system. And I’ve been driving this car on very hot summer days in the upper 90’s low 100’s recently. Has anyone else heard of this update?

I dropped the car off at 8:30 AM today and was quickly notified that it’ll take most of the day for the software updates. I’m thankful that my local dealership service center is absolutely top notch. I’ve read about some of the horrors many here have had with their Honda dealerships not really being equipped with knowledgeable professionals to work on a (GM EV) prologue. I noticed my local dealership had several prologues in the parking lot and they have charging stations right in front of the building. All of these things lead me to believe I’m going to have a positive outcome, I’m
still perplexed by the fact that it popped up that I need a software update at all, but that it didn’t do so until I started to schedule the service appointment. Fingers crossed that it means I’ll get Android 14, but I just want it to continue to function as great as it has been with no software glitches.

Would love to know from you. Am I only one loving my Prologue?

I've had mine for over nine months. It's been a fantastic quiet and comfortable ride. Hope all you had the same experience.

PSA: The Honda Prologue has an undocumented “Camp Mode” workaround! 🏕️⚡

I recently discovered something that I don’t think many Prologue owners know about.
While the Prologue doesn’t have a dedicated Camp Mode like Tesla, it does have a way to disable the automatic vehicle shutdown, making it much more practical for camping or spending long periods inside the vehicle.

How to enable it
Sit in the vehicle with the key.
Leave the vehicle completely OFF.
Press and hold the brake pedal.
While holding the brake, press and hold the START/STOP button for about 5 seconds.
A message should appear indicating that Auto Shutoff is Disabled.
Start the vehicle normally.
(This has to be repeated each time you want to use it.)

Why it’s useful
With Auto Shutoff disabled, you can:
✅ Keep the A/C running all night in summer.
✅ Keep the heater running during cold nights.
✅ Charge your phone and other USB devices.
✅ Use the infotainment system.
✅ Sleep comfortably inside the vehicle without it shutting off after a couple of hours.

Since the HVAC system only cycles on when needed, battery consumption is surprisingly low. Many owners report only a few percent of battery used over an entire night in mild weather.
It’s not a full Tesla Camp Mode (no Dog Mode or dedicated camping screen), but it’s the closest thing the Prologue currently offers—and it’s great for road trips, camping, waiting at charging stations, or even taking a nap.
Has anyone else tried this? How much battery did you use overnight?

Remote Start Issues

Has anyone experienced issues with remote start, app or fob, specifically after using scheduled charging?

Honda says there is no issue but we 100% of the time cannot remote start if the car was charged using scheduled charging. If we charge without setting scheduled charging there is no problem.

Its the strangest thing and Honda tells me im doing it wrong if it isn't working. We ended up doing some testing at home. Unplugged the car then tried starting with no luck. Then found if I turn the car on from inside the cabin then immediately off remote start works. Tried this many times with 100% success. Something is bottling up the start feature until the car is turned on.

Im open to any ideas because Honda has been useless.

Climate command issue on Honda Link

It’s been around 2 months and I have mixed feelings. Couple of bugs here but got great (that‘s what I think of) deal on lease so I am ok.

This post is about the bug in the app:

so, I sent Turn On Climate command from phone, it worked perfectly fine. Later went in the car, start the car pressed the climate on/off button as it was showing off but was still running based on the phone command. Came back home, parked it, and turned off. Now, since I came back home, feels like some motor is still running, nothing feels inside like climate or fan running but even after 30 mins it feels like running. And, on the app I can still see ‘Turn Off Climate’ option instead of Turn On. tried to send that command but it failed (which it should be). Anyone experienced something like this or know how to get this resolved (I guess I can do it by reinstalling the app but want to know if I am missing something). also, anything about the running motor sound.
Thanks!

how long for electum to call to schedule typically?

I got my proposal pretty quick from electum which I approved quickly and gave payment info.

How long are they typically taking to schedule? If there is a long lead time so be it. But I would at least like them to call and let me know when. I called their number, left messages. Seems like a black hole.

Question about dashcam power connection install

I purchased a popular dash cam power connection kit from Amazon that's supposed to connect to this module above the rear view mirror.

When i exposed it to look I found that it was scalding hot. One of the reviews on amazon said that their connecting cable melted and now it makes sense.

Has anyone else had issues with the heat of this power connection?

New Prologue Owner - Looking for Advice

So I just traded in my leased 2024 Honda CRV EXL for a 2026 Black Touring Prologue. I did it on a whim - the deal was great and so I walked in for a test drive and walked out with a new car. This is my first foray into the EV world and so I have lots of questions. I am in Northern NJ.

  1. Does Honda pay for my Level 2 charger install? I got some paperwork that says I will recieve a coupon, but the dealership didn't give me much info (to be fair, it was taking forever and I was trying to get home).
  2. Is there a good/bad time to charge my battery. Night time vs Day Time? Can I use a regular outlet and the 120V plug for now? My battery shows 60% - can I charge now or does it have to go down to a certain level before they reccomend charging so that the battery does not build a memory and go bad early?
  3. How does charging work at public chargers? Is it expensive? How long does it take?
  4. I have an iPhone and use Car Play/Google Maps, but I see that the Prologue has some built in Google apps (and maps). Do you use that as well? Are people signing in with their personal Google accounts or creating ones just for their car?
  5. Any other things I should know?

I appreciate and welcome any and all info. Really excited to be a part of the EV world!
