Important (Reputation of Mongolia)

Important (Reputation of Mongolia)

I have come across these YouTube videos about Mongolia. I study and live abroad, so this feels concerning because of how misleading and over exaggerated these are.

For example, some of my white American friends have asked me if Mongolians speak Chinese, which triggered me a bit because we have nothing related to China, but it's probably because of Inner Mongolia that causes the confusion. That is understandable.

However, these 2 videos are just crossing the lines.

Is there a way we can all report these videos and take them down? They are obviously for clickbait, but it's the perception of Mongolia to foreigners that matter the most here.

My brief Microeconomic breakdown of the shared micromobility market in the UB

https://preview.redd.it/9l2pvhh3a74h1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d4a090a33551ff5c57eefe6d389adccd5369d01

From recently, many of you have probably noticed the new pink and blue colored mopeds on the streets other than the orange and the green ones. Then, I wondered why they keep adding more? because the UB streets are literately being flooded with scooters at this point.

So I decided to make a quick analysis on it and thought some people might find it interesting.

Assuming it is an oligopoly market, with only few big sellers and dozens of buyers:

The initial one-time upfront expense of Buying scooters & importing to UB (high barrier of entry to the market requiring high upfront cost) => Charge batteries and Minor maintenance (low variable operating cost). Thus, firms basically keep expanding because it is cheap to maintain the business after entering the market and is profitable.

However, there is a negative externality (the social cost) - Blocked, crowded sidewalks, Pedestrian injuries, and Gridlock on narrow walkways. Those are high social cost.

This creates what is called a "The Tragedy of the Commons". Sellers utilize public sidewalks for free, ignoring the negative externalities imposed on UB citizens.

Over-Allocation: Because firms only factor in their near-zero private costs rather than the true social costs, the market naturally produces an over-allocation of scooters.

Take away:

There is a negative externality, so the government intervention is needed. I am not sure if the sellers are aware of this, but it is basically a situation where the sellers are racing to lock in that long-term premium profit before the government regulates this market to stop the negative externality - to meet the socially optimal level, which their profit will have to decrease to a certain point because their negative externality is being internalized by the government.

The funny thing is the recently added blue and pink colored mobiles have their own helmets for the people riding it. In this market model, the competition among sellers is usually non-price competitive, which they try to differentiate through things like a safety helmet in this case.

My bad for a negative Facebook post, but what's yalls opinion on this? and what are the possible reasons of this issue?

https://preview.redd.it/p0g5imsivo3h1.png?width=1010&format=png&auto=webp&s=5d4f915621375ca364bc9dd2f6101e537b3aec4b

saw this on Facebook and thought I'll share it to here.

This is an alarming number. Even the death toll in Ukraine due to the war was just over 2,500 in 2025. We have a peaceful country with no any sorts of war, but look what we have here?

I believe this needs more awareness.

Advice on safe sex (hookups in UB)

I mainly want to get laid. I am in my early 20s, a guy. I am considering dating apps like Tinder. However, even if I do get a match, go on a date, and have sex, how do I know for sure that the girl doesn’t have any STDs? It’s not like they will literally show me their STD test results if I ask for one.

How to have SAFE casual hookups?

I have considered finding a girl up for legitimate relationship because it’ll most likely that she will be safe in terms of STDs.

Unfortunately, let’s just say my current circumstances are not suitable for staring a legitimate and long-term relationship. I can try for a short-term relationship though. Is this my best bet?
