Am I a horrible person for asking out my best friend’s crush?
I asked out a guy I like a few days ago after we showed mutual interest. It was very impulsive and a little bit selfish if I’m being honest, but he said yes and we planned a date. In September, my best friend really liked him. She deadass wrote poetry about him. However, she claimed to have lost interest over time and told me a few months back that she was over it. Usually she’s fairly direct with her emotions, but I don’t know if she was 100% honest. Another layer is that the guy I asked out has a best friend who also liked me. That friend told me over the summer and I politely rejected him. This means that me and the guy I asked out are in the exact same situation.
Both of our friends have said they are over it, although they might just be saying that to make everything less awkward. I haven’t told my best friend, but one of our mutual friends keeps prying on the situation. I’m starting to think that I’m a horrible person and should just cancel things with the guy for the sake of my friendship. Since my crush is in the same situation maybe we’re both horrible people who deserve each other. I don’t even know anymore.
