When does it get better?

I had Bypass on 4/30 so today I am 3 weeks out. I have multiple questions. I’m in the regret stage because I am struggling. I struggle each day to get in my water because one sip I’m fine, the next I throw it up. I haven’t been getting protein in, I can’t handle the shakes anymore. I’ve ordered every kind of protein suggested and I throw them all up. I got moved to stage three on Monday so I’m trying soft foods to up protein intake and one day I can eat some thing the next day, throw it up. Also- I already have my gallbladder out which I never had any issues after it being removed two years ago. Now I feel like this surgery activated all the after effects of not having one (if you know what I mean). I feel that I loose more fluid daily than I take in.

The incision on my stomach (the biggest one) that feels like it is rubberbanded inside (looks like a dent) is still extremely painful every single day. I use heating pads and the stomach wrap and Tylenol. None of that really matters. I have no choice but to lay down each time.

I feel like I’m dying of thirst, but not hungry.

I was so dehydrated at my appointment Monday they made me stay and get two bags of fluids and it’s not even Friday and I’m back in the same place.

I have nausea meds, they help me to not feel sick all day but not with the throwing up. I will also add I’m not drinking too big of a sip or taking in too much food when I do get sick.

Just curious as to when it gets better, when will I be able to take more than a tiny sip every 5 minutes, when do I get to be out of literal starvation mode.

-Sorry this was a lot.

Hi all, I got my procedure done yesterday. It went from about 1 PM to 4 PM. I left my recovery room to come to my Hospital Room around six. Dr’s team said that there were no complications and everything went over well but I am having the most chest pain and I knew it was coming, but I don’t feel this is something that you can brace for. I know it’s the gas that they pump into you and I’ve been desperately trying to get up and take a walk since I felt a little bit more sturdy last night after having anesthesia. The hospital that I’m at has told me not until today and kind of blamed it on being short staffed.

But I understand, but I would also rather walk to get a lot of this knocked out of me than being drugged every hour on the hour. Has anyone experienced this? How long did it take to get better once you did start walking? Also, any other pointers you have beach feel free to leave them. Thanks!
