Tracking App/ Post-OPT

Hi!
I had my surgery on May 4th. The recommended app was Baritastic, I have been using it thus far but I'm not super happy with it. I really enjoyed LoseIt!, I am finding it hard to navigate with the lower calories.
I don't know if because I'm still in the healing stage Baritastic and myself aren't meshing and maybe in the later weeks we will work better together.

My question is: What apps are you using for tracking the protein, water intake, etc. ? What do you like the most about it?

TIA!

Throwing Up/Dry Heaving/Spitting Up

So earlier tonight, I am back at work and I can eat soft foods now.. I had salmon and mashed potatoes(is very very soft and mashable) .. both things that I ate before and everything went down smooth. No issues. Yesterday though, I did have a weird feeling in my tummy from drinking a protein shake my mom got me due to the milk choice I think.. I wanted to get sick then but I didnt. Going to the bathroom helped and I thought today I was in the clear today . I cleared my protein and liquids with ease. Right now as we speak.. I’ve been suffering at work trying to stay focused without being able to keep my food down. I thought it would be easy like it was yesterday but I overestimated and ending up over eating even though it was the same portions from the other day. I took my time (I think) chewing it to mush but I think the salmon itself is making me 🤢. I have different brands at home and the other ones are fine but this one is salty and I should’ve followed my gut to not continue to eat it… anyways.. I think my period is coming as well so I’m not too sure what’s going on right now you guys.. any insight would be helpful. 💓

3 month check in

I had my 3 month check in with the baristric dietician yesterday. I mentioned my goal is to become an endurance cyclist, but I need to learn how to fuel on the bike post op. Pre-op I would just eat constantly every 20-30 minutes and keep going, but I didn't have to wait 30 minutes to start drinking again. She is going to refer me to a baristric dietician with a background in sports nutrician. I didn't realise that was a possibility on the NHS.

Feeling good. Progress is slow, my hair is starting to fall out now and my nails are very dry and brittle. And none of my clothes fit right now. But I am so happy I did it.

Gastric Bypass multivitamin suggestions

Hi, I admit I have not had gastric bypass surgery, but the other day my nutritionist recommended I take gastric bypass multivitamn because of my health history. When I was 10 I had a really bad bout of food poisoning and in effort to save me they had to removed 86% of my large colon. She explained my body doesnt get much of a chance to absorb certain nutrients that I eat because of how fast my gut moves food through and she felt I would benefit from this kind of multivitamin. She told me to just look it up and find one. So here asking what brands have you used and why you like them over others?

non-scale things I'm excited for

I had an eating disorder in my youth so I've been very careful and mindful of how I'm approaching this surgery and weight loss overall (under the guidance of my therapist, an ED specialist, + my surgical team).
This includes not checking my weight myself (weigh ins with my doc so they can ensure I'm making progress, i just don't see the number and don't weigh at home), not counting calories (I can measure, weigh, and track the nutrients and work based off a guide by my dietitian: ie my protein shake has 1g sugar, 30g protein, and 5g fibre, no idea the caloric intake -- i eat the same things every week too with a pre-approved "menu"), and not measuring myself with a measuring tape (i use lengths of yarn & clothes, no numbers/tags). It's definitely a unique journey, one that I equate to navigating a submarine without windows but with a radar, map, and compass.

On the point, though, my therapist has me keeping an ongoing checklist for wins that I'm looking forward to! I'd love to hear some of yours as well.

🌟 Generally less pain and better mobility; I have a lot of difficulty when it comes to moving and comfort and am looking forward to less strain!
🌟 Easier time finding clothes that fit me; I'm looking forward to no longer worrying if a store will carry my size!
✨ similarly, I love crochet and sewing and look forward to not having to heavily modify patterns to fit me🥲
✨ also, getting access to braces to help stabilize my joints as well as compression garments. I'm extremely hypermobile and it's a pain to get wrist/knee/etc splints and braces that actually fit and help. Custom ones take forever and require a lot of jumping through hoops.
🌟 Getting a new wheelchair! Once I'm under 300lbs I qualify for a new wheelchair that has all the bells and whistles; it'll recline and elevate my legs, have power assistance, and the wheels/frame will be custom built to my body so I can self-ambulate! plus I get to pick custom colors, I'm thinking either purple or red (:
🌟 maybe TMI, but being able to wipe after the restroom without dislocating my shoulder would be nice🥲
🌟 not needing to use a seatbelt extender anywhere!
🌟 being able to ride rollercoasters, ride in cars, sit in planes and other public transport without being too big for the seats
🌟 Easier time exercising!! I used to be extremely athletic but with the extra weight and bulk it's so hard to do things like sit ups or bridges.
🌟 The doctors say a lot of my chronic health issues could get better or go away entirely at a lower weight -- ex: my migraines, GERD, fatigue/sleep issues, etc.
🌟 Getting to have a whole new wardrobe that fits me and my new style! I recently went through and donated everything that doesn't currently fit me, so I'll get to make and thrift clothes that I'm actually excited for.

I'm going to update this list with more things that come to mind, but yeah!

And I feel fine.

I did not feel fine when I was almost 400. Seems like the more often it drops, the less I feel it.

When can I eat without feeling like I’m dying?

Hi all, so apparently my situation is a bit odd. I had a sleeve done 9/17/25. However, I had reflux so badly it caused a hernia and I had to sleep sitting up for the last 3 months despite a ridiculously high amt of Rx acid reducers. So 7 months after my sleeve, I had to have a revision to the bypass. I had that on 4/29/26. It sucked because I had JUST gotten to where I could tolerate most all foods. lol. But I felt prepared since I knew the restrictions and basically just needed to start over.
At my 2 wk f/u my doctor had me do a barium swallow and just laughed because my pouch was so small. Said I would lose a ton of weight. That’s great and all, but I’m 3 wks po today, and can’t eat more than 3 very small bites, that’s after chewing each one a ton, waiting in between bites, and I still feel like I have a knife in my chest. Hurts so bad it makes my eyes water. I basically can’t get anything in besides water, sports drinks and protein shakes. I can do yogurt though I’m not a huge fan. And oddly enough I have only lost 2lbs in the last week. I’m assuming it’s because I am not getting enough in. How long does this hell last?

Swelling?

I am officially over three weeks postop. Anybody know how long it takes for the swelling in your abdomen to go down because I feel like it’s just getting worse. I’ve lost a substantial amount of weight already and I feel like I can’t even see it that much because of how much swelling I have.

My question is how long did it take for your swelling to go down and what did you do to help it? I saw online that compression garments help but I was also told by the hospital it wasn’t a good idea to wear them because it adds too much tension to the abdominal area.

NSV baby!!!! Whahoooo!

HW: 355 lbs
SW: 318 lbs
CW: 228 lbs

I spent two days at Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure. Rode everything I wanted. I fit on every ride (but almost didn’t fit on Hulk - I fit one hip in but the other hip was slightly lifted, but it worked). I even rode Velocicoaster THREE times!! I walked over 30,000 steps the first day and over 29,000 the second day. I’m so tired but am already recovering a lot quicker than I ever would have in the past even when I was previously this size.

I work out regularly and increased my walking in preparation for this trip and it paid off! Also, I did not know how many stairs are in the queues at Universal!! Wow. SO MANY STAIRS. Some rides had 2-3 flights of stairs. But I was able to keep up with the people in front of me every time. It felt so good not to struggle and just be able to enjoy the rides!

I have an odd problem

I ran into an odd problem. My son's bachelor party is this weekend, and we are going to play paintball. I had gastric bypass surgery September of 2024 and hit my target weight last summer. I lost about 120 pounds and have replaced all of my clothing. Playing paintball normally includes wearing something old. I don't have anything old. I am planning on hitting a thrift shop tomorrow because I don't want any of my new clothes to be destroyed.

I will also say that this is a great problem but it's an interesting problem.

No Scale Victory

I was able to fit in the small bathroom cause the big one was being used. I had room to move around and not feel claustrophobic. I was able to wipe my self without having to struggle standing up to do it. This just felt so good cause I thought I’d always have to use the big bathroom and never be able to fit comfortably in a small one. ( All bathroom are different so I’ll be trying small stalls from now on & I understand I may not fit in all of them but not to get upset cause I already met my goal of able to fit in one already)

Can you eat cereal?

Just a random thought that google can't answer for me... So as we are told not to drink for 30 before and after food. What about cereal? Will that be out of the question forever? I'm still on pureed food & 2 weeks to go for solids yet but cereal with milk... Does it cause dumping syndrome? TIA 😊

reactive hypoglycaemia

what do you guys do to help avoid sugar drops and crashes with reactive hypoglycaemia?

i seem to be having a really hard time with it and feel very alone with treating/ living with it.
like to the point where some days i only feel stable if i don’t eat at all :(

4 days post op and can barely drink

I am not having dumping syndrome, but anything that I drink is killing me in pain. It’s all of the gas that is built up in side of me, but it’s been 4 days now and I’d say best case I’ve drank 20 oz in a day.

I can’t drink the bone broths because my taste buds can’t stand the metallic after taste. I don’t know what to do.

Today I tried to set up 4oz glasses for each hour, but I am not succeeding.

This is so difficult.

For reference, my pain is like a 1 or 2 but as soon as I drink something it shoots to a 5.
