Lodging away

Worked in construction 12 or so years and worked away from home Mon-Fri majority of that but stopped when my child was born. He’s now turning 6 and I’ve been working away again for the best part of a year, I’m now starting to think that this isn’t the life I want constantly being away and missing out on his life - Yes I know lodging away earns better money but speaking to the older fellas on site that is their only regret that they missed out too much on family time.

I’m so unsure what to do for the best and don’t really vent to people I know personally. I know I can work local and make a decent wage but the job I’m on currently which means staying away is making me hell of a lot of money per week/month
