Struggeling with the idea that God lets suffering happen..
Can someone please explain: if God is almighty (Genesis 17:1), why does He allow sin and suffering? He knew it would happen ahead of time.
The best answer I can come up with is that God limits His power by giving us free will. Otherwise we couldn't truly love Him. But if people in heaven cannot or do not want to sin, doesn't that mean there's no free will in heaven? If being unable to do what you want = no free will, then what is the point of having free will in this short life on earth?
Some say we need painful lives for character development. But if an unborn baby dies and goes to heaven, they never had that development. If from day one we (including Satan) were in a place where we didn't want to sin, Satan would never have rebelled, we wouldn't be tempted, and sin and suffering wouldn't exist.
I've asked my pastor and he said he'd get back to me, but I haven't heard yet.
Hoping someone here can help. I appreciate everyone who responds. 🙏
