I was born here and want to show off the beautiful work i see walking and looking in shops. Downtown Bristol, Johnson City, Kingsport, Erwin, Elizabethton, if you make something i’d love to buy it and show it off! In particular, clothes, sustainable fashion, quilts, variety, arts, shelf stable (canned) items, shelf stable (glass or canned) drinks, crochet, fabrics patches, jewelry, Vintage media, books books books! vhs dvd, grateful dead , psych rock, san fran scene, music inspired, bluegrass, country, old time, blues rock metal, anything at all you’d like for me to buy and show off!

No, Entire store is free and community based, with donation available , trade, give what you can type of thing, with 60% of $ made going to a mix of local charities and national charities.

That’s all the questions I can think of now, but I have been making quite a bit of recycled clothing / second hand, and have a little collection already gathered! I want to show off appalachia, our neck of the woods, and display local artists as we vend thru US/ and beyond.

I am going to keep this brief and de-identified due to the personal and traumatic events described. I was recently informed that my grandmother and her sister(s) was s*xually abused by her brother growing up for multiple years. This abuse took place in the home. There are rumors of this in the family, and I was told secondarily from another brother who recently passed away. He described beating up the said brother (perpetrator) but when he moved out the sisters had to fend for themselves. He would come over, but the sisters were the younger ones. I am distraught. This all took place in NE TN/SW VA. My grandmother is the youngest of 10+ children. The town they are from is very well known as one of the “birthplace of country music”. Small 2 br farm house. My mamaw described abuse to my mother, and other instances of abuse. My mother and I have experienced abuse by member of this side of the family, and I have documented what me and my mother (my grandmothers daughter) have discussed. My grandmother said her daddy asked her to forgive her brother and heal the family circle on his death bed. My mamaw took care of her parents and watched the homeplace, and she is very religious and took this seriously. She has forgiven her brother but recently there have been undercurrents of disagreement and conflict as recent family members passing has been met with… let’s just say financial disagreements from said perpetrator brother. Said brother is wealthy. He is the oldest living brother. The girls, my grandmother and great aunt(s)…. i don’t know what to do with this information. My grandmother will deny if pushed, but will objectively talk about washing sin away and forgiving family cause that’s what god would want. Now, i knew there were rumors of abuse but this is insanity. He is free to do whatever he wants around other female family members children etc. My grandmother only mentioned objectively the abuse because I was assaulted when i was younger and she wanted me to forgive my family member the same way she did (and still does). As you can see this is very traumatic and probably more common than we could ever imagine especially in appalachia. My family was very poor, and the fact said brother is rich now also motivates the family (the sisters, siblings) to support him. The recent death has moved the family, and in turn I was told about the abuse from a secondary source (primary source, another brother who passed recently) (not the perpetrator). I believe it. The protective “good” brother has been described as a loving fiercely loyal and protective family member and the sisters all love him despite $ being not the same. I don’t know if this makes sense, but the good brother, he was military and there are stories of him “killing a bear” rabid bear and protecting his sisters. There’s so many parallels, it’s crazy. Don’t know what to do besides write it down. My grandmother deserves the world and her sister too. They are still poor and her sister works 4 days a week post stroke meanwhile her brother…. i’ll stop there but let’s just say he owns about 60% of the hometown…. I live about 50 min away from all this, but I was raised by my grandmother…..

Our friend went downtown kinda drunk as tudj bc we cant stop him. our hotel (super 🎱 , Portsmouth Virginia) is written on our friends hand. The hotel as above mentioned overbooked and we had to get another hotel. We are currently staying at the WyWg Chesapeak VA hotel. If someone sees him or sees someone wearing a green grateful dead hat with a yellow and orange steelie on the front, a tie die shirt, long wavy blonde hair down/pony tail. 5'10, supposedly was buying a drink for a new friend.
