First time seeing my dad in the hospital, I really don't know what to do.
My dad (61), just suffered from a pretty bad stroke. I got the call last night, my girlfriend and I have been here since and it's a lot to take in. I'm 26 and I haven't really seen my parents aging until recently this kinda broke it all open to me.
He's been pretty sedated for the most part, but he is responsive with his right side. Can move his arm and wiggle his toes, but can't really talk a ton. They're planning on performing a decompressive hemicraniectomy tomorrow to release some of the pressure in his brain.
I don't know what I should be doing, I'm not sure if he has insurance or not, what I should be getting prepared for once he starts recovering or if it gets worse. It's just really overwhelming and im his only immediate family in the area.
I'm feeling guilt for not hanging out with him more and I don't know. I just don't know how to feel. Any advice or anything would be appreciated.
