Hi guys, recently I (a Chinese male) developed a crush on a Malay woman who is working on the same project as me, so I guess you could say we’re colleagues.

Over the past few months, I’ve found myself started to like her, and I would like to invite her out for dinner. However, I have no clue how to start the conversation or how to ask her out. I’m also not sure whether she has a boyfriend.

I’d like to ask would it be okay if I simply asked her whether she has a boyfriend before asking her out for dinner?
