Genuinely torn on the rent vs buy thing in malaysia right now, what would you actually do

Our team has been thinking about this a lot lately. renting feels like throwing money away every month but buying locks you into a 30 year loan and a down payment that feels impossible to save for. and that's before you even get into maintenance, interest, all of it.

some people swear renting forever is smarter, some say you're mad not to buy asap. genuinely don't know which camp is right anymore.

if you were starting out today, would you rent or buy. Or are you just like our host, rent from your parents who rent from a landlord?

Where to recycle office chairs?

Hi guys, as per my title, I'm looking to recycle 10-15 units of our old office chairs. It's a blue high back fabric office chair with wheels. I've been looking on ig on recycling centres but most of them do not accept chairs :( Does anyone know where I can recycle them? My last resort would be to throw them all at the dumpster but I'd like to try my luck here first before I do that. Please leave the contacts or any info if you guys know anyone! Appreciate the help! 🙏🏻

Football

Hello, my wife and I are trying to settle in KL for the past few weeks. Things are going pretty smoothly, However I am a very avid football fan and player. So much that I start to feel depressed if I don’t play in a while haha. Are there any places where I can play? Also what other places are there to play any sport something I can do with my wife too like Tennis, badminton, padel, or anything else?

Keeping digi number active

Hello! Is there any way for me to keep specifically my digi number active at a low cost but for a long time?

Basic info, I’m currently using 2 sims with different numbers (digi and hotlink). Ive been loyal to digi for almost 6 years but lately theyve been misbehaving a lot and the place I study at has better hotlink connection so I bought a hotlink sim.

I usually pay around RM50 to keep digi active (my plan cost rm38) but now having 2 sims, rm50 is just too much for me to pay each especially as a student 🥲

Thing is , Id still like to keep my digi sim without paying as much(is that even possible?). Ive only used hotlink for a while(one week) so I might not know a lot so pardon my lack of knowledge of it.

Any advice would be wonderful and greatly appreciated❤️‍🩹 and sorry in advance if my wording’s a lil wonky 💔

Where is the better place to put your emergency fund?

They say have around 6 months emergency savings, i feel like just putting it in the bank account is a "waste" as it doesnt earn interest, but I also don't want to put it in some investment where I can't take it out anytime. Advise?

Would this eventually happens to us? As i saw Meta lay off 8,000 employees, despite a $56.31 billion in total revenue (a 33% year-over-year increase). While the banking Industry also tend to reflect on this trend, as the JPMorgan Chase & Co. CEO mentioned yesterday.

For me, layoffs used to feel like something that only happened in the news. But recently, the trend has started to feel much closer to home.

It raises an uncomfortable question: if even profitable companies are cutting jobs, what does this mean for us?

This concern becomes even more real when leaders begin discussing efficiency, automation, and AI's future impact on the workforce. I grew up believing that industries such as banking, finance, and technology offered long-term stability.

Even in my company, which is an MNC, I’ve noticed more hiring focused on AI automation skills. That really made this issue feel more real and closer to me...

Automatic or Manual driving license?

I am an 18 year old male and I’m currently confused whether to take automatic or manual driving license. My parents are asking me to take automatic because it is easier, won’t cost them that much money on retakes if I fail (because they trust me and says I can pass automatic first time) and I’m also going to university soon. Keep in mind I have also failed motorbike JPJ test 3 times before this so I have that fear of failing again. I also haven’t driven a manual car before this and I most probably won’t cause my family all drives automatic. On the other hand, my friends are saying taking an automatic license is “feminine”. So I don’t know which one to take? Any suggestions guys?

[HELP] Possible Cat Welfare Concern in Negeri Sembilan

My parents are vacationing in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

One cat is seen repeatedly pacing/circling at the bottom of the cage, and there's multiple cats in the cage. I'm concerned this may be a welfare issue or stress-related stereotypical behavior.

May I know the right rescue group or official channel to contact so the cats can be checked?

Does anyone know Seremban/ Negeri Sembilan cat rescuers, animal welfare NGOs, or the correct DVS reporting route?

Thank you!

What can you do about neighbouring construction?

So my neighbour started renovating their house. They're technically not breaking any laws on the time they start construction but the constant hammering, drilling and banging throughout the day is incessant. I heard this "project" of theirs was gonna last another year. Anything I can do to get these guys to stfu??

Is separating the seats of passengers in the same booking anti consumer practice?

Recently in my 2 flights with AirAsia with my wife overseas this year, Air Asia put both of us in seats that are not next to each together during online check in, and in the booking page suggested that we buy seats to guarantee sitting together.

All along when we flew previously, we usually don’t buy seats and during online check in, if there are 2 seats together, the system will put us together.

Feels like they are doing this to “encourage” us to buy seats but I feel that’s quite anti consumer as it’s up to the consumer if they want to buy seats or not.

And now if I’m travelling with an elder or a kid, I now have to pay more to guarantee seating together.

Does anyone out there also have the same experience?
