Based on what we've been shown of Ben's actions this season, both personally and professionally, I'd say his former fiance really dodged a bullet by calling off the wedding. I used to think Ben was witty and charming. Now, he appears petulant, whiny, immature, and insecure. He seems unable to accept responsibility for his actions and decisions. I also find his pursuing a relationship with someone 23 years younger than himself quite disturbing. Ben did himself no favors returning to the show this season.
