Trailering

Looking for real experience here not what the keyboard warriors can dig up. I’ve done my due diligence there…

Any of you guys have experience to share about trailering? I want to build a trailer to pull my dirtbike (250-300lbs total) with my ultra. A few questions I had…

-best hitch (prob use a swivel but I’m asking specifically about an aftermarket hitch so I don’t have to design/build that too)

-deck height/load cg vs width to ensure lateral stability

-google says shorter tongue lengths are better but reference 1-3’ which seems ridiculously short. I’ll shoot for a 15% total tongue weight but my intuition is a longer tongue would be more stable in regards to sway…am I missing something?

-good parts source for motorcycle specific wheels and axles or bearings? Seems like a regular 14” trailer tire would be way overkill and super heavy

-since the majority of the weight of the bike sits on its own suspension should I skip suspension on the trailer? The forks don’t get tightened down that much the way I tie bikes down.
