I (24M) have a coworker (32F) who’s single and has a kid. We’ve been flirting at work and she told me she’s into me. After that, we casually talked about hooking up, but didn’t make concrete plans.

I’m starting to rethink it for a few reasons:

  1. She seems to want something long-term and I’m not ready for that kind of commitment right now.

  2. I don’t feel ready for the responsibility that comes with dating someone with a child.

  3. I’m worried about things getting awkward at work if we do hook up.

  4. She keeps asking to come over to my place and I’m not comfortable with that.

I haven’t said anything to her yet, but I’ve been pulling back and avoiding the topic. I don’t want to hurt her feelings or make work weird, but I also don’t want to lead her on.

What’s the best way to handle this? How do I tell her I’m not interested without making it a huge deal at work?
