Coparenting with a LEO

Hi fellow parents,

My son’s dad (32) and I (26) have a 20 month old son.

We seperated when my son was 9 months old. I moved back in with my parents, for the support, while I finish up my prerequisites for nursing school.

With that being said, when my son’s dad and I were together I was a student and stay at home mom.

My son’s father was controlling with money, and didn’t want to support me, in any facet, while I continued school. I was unhappy and requested change and therapy for the two of us. He ignored said requests and I made the decision to leave.

I covered my bases, made formal, written requests on parenting times and our separation. (he would have our son for 2 overnights and 2.5 days total, which were his days off from work) He agreed. We currently have a 60(me)/40(dad) split. With a 2 hour commute between both homes and two weekly exchanges/week.

Any advice or optimistic thoughts from fellow parents out there who co-parent with someone else in this profession? His integrity has been shown to be compromised since our son was born and as our legal battles have begun.

Signed,

A tired but optimistic coparenting toddler mom!
