Is BS physics a good branch to get into research?

I am interested in maths and physics research, is this branch good for that? I am willing to learn math on my own and I am also prepared to grind for a double major/ branch change/ dual degree in math.

Is BS physics a good branch to get into basic science research

What were the cutoffs for double major for various branches(especially M and C)

If the data is not available, can you please give an idea how difficult bagging a double major is in general?

Need help in an odd situation

I am interested in going into research in maths or physics in the future. Unfortunately I got seriously sick for a month some time before jee advanced and performed badly due to anxiety/mental health issues on the day of the paper.

Based on my rank I might get kanpur BS physics and will surely get KGP physics. However, I am more inclined towards mathematics. This leaves me in a weird situation where my rank is not good enough for maths at a good iit.

My question to my seniors is that if I opt for physics and I am REALLY hardworking, then is there any chance that i will be able to learn Undergraduate level mathematics by sheer hard work along with having a good level of knowledge in physics? It might seem phoney and pretentious but I am really serious about this and will work as hard as I can if this is possible.

I sincerely request the mods and my seniors to help me here.
