This is just shameful. When you put braindead, biased and immature people in control of probably one of the most critical institutions on campus, this is the result. Nothing but nepotism, bias and unprofessionalism. Inki MKC ek ek ki especially unki ki jisne mera interview liya. Meine badiya se kiya tha aur agar ye list nai ati to ye chutiye mera chutiya katlete. I don’t think they deserve to interview anyone. In chutiyo ne aise baap banaye jinse koi bacha handle nai hoga. Agar apne hee man se banane hote hai bache to phir ye dhong nai rachna chahiye. We have seen the amount of suicides in the past year on campus and this is what happens when you put such people in charge. Muje personally 8 se zyada aye hai, and i see what people have they chosen over me. Inko bas chahiye dead log, jo inke jaise chutiye ho. Bhai in sabh ki CPI dekhna eik baar , people who call themselves ACADEMIC CTMs. Aur bc jo ye itna acha bante hai, i have seen them in 2 fests now, itne nashe karte hai MC aur bas khud ko acha dikhana hai. Apne bache banaye hai eik wing se 7 sg am kyonki baap wing mein ctm hai. This is a time i believe we must enquire. We deserve to be answered on what basis the selection procedure was actually done. Let's unite against this rotting institution and demand the answers we deserve. MKC CMHW KI.

Name change

I have got a seat at IIT Kanpur for studying Masters. I am required to report at the institute by 23 July. I had changed my legal name by adding my surname, in all my documents. But, unfortunately, the offer letter and my Exam Scorecard will not contain my surname.
I wanted to know if this will lead to the rejection of my seat. (I have the affidavit for changing name). If anyone knows anything about this, could you please help me out?

Lost motivation for the college after SG results

Mujhe pata hai sab yahi bolte hai, but bohot undeserving logo ko banaya hai SG.
Mera interview badhiya gaya tha, seniors ke sath acche se rhta tha, sab shi kiya tha. I know a guy who has <6.5CPI never interacted with his own wingies, total screwup and woh SG bana hai.

Maine aur koi POR nahi liya tha, was only focussed on becoming SG. I have been interacting with ICS as well in my first year. I feel imo I was actually a really good fit for the role.
And what hurts more is when I see the kind of people who have actually been appointed. Mujhe pta hai sb log cope cope bolenge abb, lekin jab mai undeserving hota hu tb i dont hesitate to tell.

Abb koi bhi club activity mai mann nhi lg rha. Bass padhai karke acchi cpi lana hai, pura motivation nikaldia isne.

Terrible state of affairs for PhD Applicants at IITK

Hello everyone,

I must begin by saying, I am no student at IIT Kanpur, but was prospective (hopeful) PhD applicant who applied for PhD at the Humanities and Social Science Department at IIT Kanpur in 2025. This post might come a year late and I think I was hesitant to put it out there fearing any push back from other forces. Thus, take this as an anonymous rant.

I will keep this rant short. I applied for the PhD programme at HSS at IIT Kanpur. I was shortlisted and asked to report for the entrance exam and if qualified, attend the interview the very next day. It all seemed fine. They asked that we can take an accommodation outside or book an accommodation inside the campus by paying a fee.

I chose the latter because I was new to Kanpur and it is better to stay in campus hostel during the time of examination. So, I paid around Rs. 500/- for each day stay totalling Rs 1000/- (I don't recall the exact amount but it was closer to 1000). I reached the campus for the day before the day of the entrance and came to know that accomodation is no hostel but a common room with bed laid on the floor. With no security, I was packed with at least 30 people in the same room. (photo attached). I emailed the department and spoke to a PhD scholar at HSS but I didn't get any reply or help.

I stayed, gave entrance, and interview and left. I promised to never remember the intensity of dehumanisation, I felt. I felt like a body that can be thrown, used and pushed aside just so some administrative necessity could take place. Later that when the results came out, nobody from my discipline (Sociology) was shortlisted and around 20ish people gave the interview. Dehumanisation and humiliation came together. It's been a year, and I feel better, but I want it to be out there.

Does all feel same?

Hlo Y25 here. Abhi jo mei bataunga usse sunkar lag sakta hai ki mei ab insaan nahi raha. Nahi mei vo movie mei jo mutation wala dialogue nahi maar raha, matlab thoda inhumane lag sakta hai.

Toh meine recent mei anime dekha(first anime of my life) aur usmei emotional scenes aate hai, about couples ka mar jana ya do new lovers ka toot jana hamesha ke liye. Lekin uss scene ko dekhne ke baad mujhe kuch alag feel hua. Mei rone laga. Kafi roya. Matlab kafi jyada emotional ho gaya tha mei.

Par ye ageeb tha because mujhe kisi apne ke marne par bhi itna emotional feel nahi hota. Mere cousin brother ki death mei mein bilkul shant tha. Like uss time mujhe laga I'm emotionally numb. But aaj ye kaise hua? Isse do baatein ho saki hai ki ya to mei emotionally weak hoon, ya fir (I don't know how) meine ye feeling experience kar rakhi hai.

Agar koi bata sakta ho ki ye emotional hai ya fir psychological toh bata sakte ho I want to know what was happened to me last night.
