I am a 19M college student .. and I’m really confused about what’s happening with my scalp and hair.

Whenever I wash my hair, I can see white material at the roots. If I scratch my scalp gently, white stuff comes off on my nails. It’s not exactly big flakes like classic dandruff, but more like white gunk around the roots.

Because of this, I’m finding it almost impossible to comb my hair. Even my wide-tooth comb gets completely stuck, and even running my fingers through my hair feels very hard and rough. Sometimes my hair takes a curl from the top and I feel like it’s breaking more than usual.

Current routine / products:

• Scalp shampoo solution with salicylic acid + coal tar (for the scalp)
• Recently started using a Love Beauty & Planet hair mask (the violet one)
• Sometimes I also use a L’Oréal hair serum on lengths/ends

My questions:

1. What could this white material at the roots be? Is it product buildup, dandruff, sebum plugs, or something else?
2. Could the mask/serum or the medicated shampoo be causing buildup and making my hair feel so rough and hard to detangle?
3. How should I change my routine to:
   • Remove this white buildup safely
   • Make my hair easier to comb
   • Reduce breakage

Extra info:

• The issue is mostly on the top/crown area of my head – those hairs are very hard to comb or even run fingers through, but the sides are mostly okay.
• Hairs mosltu affected in that top region aandd this shitty white materiaal is mostly in that region
• Scalp feels more “gunky” than itchy, but there is some discomfort when I scratch.
• I’m in India, so suggestions for products/routines that I can actually find here would help a lot.

Any advice from people who’ve had similar issues, or from professionals in this sub, would be really appreciated. I’m honestly a bit worried now and don’t want to damage my hair further.

I have liked a girl from the very start of first year , first time I saw her was in my PHY lab. She is not flashy like other girls she is a very simple girl may that's the reason behind crushing on her... She was there in my TA and in CHM lab as well.
I always wanted to talk to her, but my shitty introverted and shy nature makes me super awkward around her. So , I admired her from a distance , I have not any bad intentions for her...

i am in Civil department , i have cpi around 6 , i use to do doom scrolling and studying just before 2 days of exam , i know its very shitty thing ,

but i am getting serious this time and for my upcoming things ..
i will be staying there for a summer project .... and not doing any course .
