To induce or not? FTM
I am a 37yo FTM and I’ve had a relatively uncomplicated pregnancy thankfully, aside from severe nausea/heartburn which caused me to lose about 15 lbs. my BMI is 30 (considered obese) and I had BP above 140/90 one time in the first trimester when I was running to the appointment late, but it’s been fine the rest of the time.
The doctors are recommending I induce at 39 weeks because of my age, weight and sign of hypertension (the one high reading in first tri). I really hope to go into labor naturally and I feel that they’re just looking at my stats on paper but I haven’t actually had any causes for concern in my pregnancy so far. Yesterday at my 37 week appointment, they said my fluid was looking a low at 7 (average is 5-25 and anything lower is dangerous) but they still scheduled me to come back in a week for next appointment, not sooner. With all this in mind, should I just agree to induce at 39 weeks? I’ve heard so many bad things about induction, and really want to go into labor on my own, but I obviously don’t want to put myself and the baby at risk by waiting too long! The fluid thing is the only thing that’s now causing me concern about waiting longer. I’ve just been obsessing about this ever since my appointment yesterday !
