Cortisone Shot

Cortisone Shot

I am 6.5 (R) & 3.5 (L) months post op PKR. My 3.5 month old really started hurting at 2 months. Got progressively worse & swollen. Made follow up with my surgeon & a 2nd opinion surgeon. Both said hardware looks great. 2nd surgeon aspirated, sent fluid to get tested & put me on a steroid pack. Results are back, no infection. Now recommending cortisone shot to try to get inflammation down. Both my ROM & extension are good, but the pain is pretty unbearable & really hindering my strength training to prepare to go back to working 8-12 hour days standing/walking.

Anyone have an opinion? I mean, I know you will….but let’s hear it before I schedule injection.

I have reduced PT to 2 times a week at suggestion of original surgeon. Still icing & using stem.

3 months post op, first 2 months great, this last month has gotten progressively more painful! X-rays look good, they aspirated yesterday…weekend so no contact until Monday. Is this alarming or normal? TIA
