Alright folks. Tell me what pt behavior gives you the biggest “ick”. I work inpatient and I’ll go first. I can’t tell you how many patients I have seen go to the bathroom and NOT WASH THEIR DANG HANDS. It’s so gross and part of the reason I always wear gloves anytime I’m touching a pt for anything.

Close second “ick”: when a pt straight up coughs in my face without any attempt at covering their mouth.

Disclaimer: I know people admitted to the hospital generally aren’t feeling well and might not be acting like they usually do (but it’s still gross). Also, everyone deserves good care (even when their behavior is gross 🤢 😬).
