Should we try Clomid+IUI or stick with the “natural” route?

Should I try clomid + IUI?

TW: miscarriage

TLDR/ I had 2 miscarriages. I’m a little scared of trying the “natural” way. Is there any advice on doing Clomid + IUI or giving it another try “natural”?

Hello, this is my 1st time posting. I have had 2 miscarriages in the last few months. The first was at 6.5w in August of 2025. The 2nd was a MMC in January of 2026. At my 12w appointment I was told there was no heartbeat and I was told baby stopped growing at 8w4d. The genetic testing came back as trisomy 14 for the 2nd. We did not test the 1st.

In my opinion, both miscarriages were slightly more traumatic than necessary. In August, I miscarried at work and couldn’t leave for at least an hour because I had no relief. In January, I was scheduled for a suction D+C because they didn’t think my body would do it on its own. Oh, but it did. An hour before I was supposed to go to the clinic for surgery. I miscarried and hemorrhaged out. I was in the ER, bleeding profusely, with a blood pressure in the 80s, and 3 doses of morphine didn’t even touch the pain. So, I’m a little scared of the “natural” way… I also know I’m not quite ready yet. I’m working on it in therapy.

We finished our IVF testing this month and we are both normal. Our diagnosis was unexplained infertility. It’s frustrating but I know other people have bigger issues. I have a good egg reserve, my AMH was 6.4. My husband is average in terms of sperm count. We’re both in our early 30s.

The RE is leaning towards IUI. He said clomid would increase the chance of getting a normal embryo and just push the not good embryos to the side. I’m leaning towards IUI because I would get more support during the 1st trimester but my husband wants to try natural again. We are at a 25% chance of miscarriage now and it would go up to 40% if we have another. Those numbers are particularly scary when I’ve already been a part of the 10% twice….

Does anyone have any advice for trying natural again or doing clomid + IUI?
